Kids these days
« on: October 16, 2013, 12:24:18 PM »
I'm tired of it. When we were kids there were no facebooks or twitters. We just played outside until dark, then we went inside and did our chores. Now? Kids don't even have chores. They sit around drinking mountain dew and eating flaming hot doritos and play halo.

You wanna know how I got to school when I was a kid? Rode the bus. No minivan with a TV showing Cars 2 on an endless loop. We weren't even allowed to talk on the bus. Just sit quietly and ride to school. We had manners back then.

When I was a kid, if I missed a TV show, it was like "Bummer, guess I'll wait for summer and hope they rerun that one." because there was no Tivo or Hulu. One kid I knew had a VCR but he wasn't allowed to use it.

THATS ALL THEY DO! They text, sext, text/sext combo, then go to raves and twerk. When we were kids you politely asked a young lady to dance at a mixer. If she said no, you said "thank you for your time" and walked over to the snack table with your head held high. Now if a girl doesn't put out they make a facebook group about her. If one of these kids ever grows up to be president we'll be in a world of trouble.

I heard baseball teams now don't have strikeouts because kids are too soft.

Sounds like you're a great dad. Did you know less than 5% of kids under 15 know the pledge of allegiance?

i smashed my 12 year old sons xbox because he told me he wanted to go to tech school to design video games instead of going to college.

oh, also, last week he told me he wanted to play in the NFL. i told him thats never going to happen.

sheesh, when i was 12, i knew exactly what i wanted to do. i wanted to go to ag school and then come home and help pa on the farm. and you know what? thats exactly what i did.

I heard a study that American high school students spend more time on sex ed than math and science combined. Anyone wanna guess why all the TVs are made in Japan?

this thread is right on point.  got home from the mill yesterday to find my son and his friend (Miles) playing "basketball" on the driveway.  normally i would be happy to see my son practicing, but to my dismay, the goal was lowered down to 7.5 feet because they wanted to "dunk" on it.  no practicing left handed layups.  no free throw practice.  just flashy, lebron-style "look at me" dunks, on a lowered goal.

i told him that unless he wanted his goal unearthed and sent to his cousin's house, he'd raise it back to 10.00 ft.

going to get a padlock to put on it this weekend.
