Not bad for a "one-dimensional" QB! But yeah, this will not influence Coach Snyder's decision about who to 'start.'   :billdance:

I couldn't find a good interwebs source for all FBS QBs and their QBR. Anybody have one? I'd like to compare to see how our 'passing QB' is faring.

*Never mind, I found him on page 3! (he's at a whopping 38.1, btw).  :bang:
I'm in it purely for the entertainment value.

Our guy slipped to #10 in the country in QBR. Looks like Jake made up some ground to #86, tho.

I had a short lived twitter discussion with some of the GPC crew Sat and Sunday about this.  They all say that Jake has "something" right now and that is why he should start.  When given the info of the above ratings, they simply say that Sams is a great athlete but needs to be found a different position.  When told that a top #10 rated QB's position should be QB, they simply said that they agree he will eventually be great but that he isn't ready now.  So maybe if #ourguy works a little harder and cracks the top 2 or 3 of such a rating, he will be ready.....also assuming that the Great White Hope is no longer around.

This seems to be the common thought by many fans. However, regardless of which "camp" you choose to be in, its obvious (IMHO) that both guys will play. The number of snaps isn't determined, but both are going to play in every game and as a results there will likely continue to be ugly stretches mixed with good stretches. And some games one will make more plays than the other.

#OurGuy and #OurOtherGuy ?

If we win, I don't mind the 2 QB revolving door. I'm admittedly LFBIQ, but what drives me nutty is when our coaches insist on forcing these QBs to play to observable weaknesses (or what's NOT working at the time). For example, forcing Jake Waters to run QB rushing plays where speed and quickness are necessary (most options, etc.). Let the kid throw. He seems pretty good at it. You know what else? He's pretty decent when his receivers are covered and has to scramble (not designed runs) too.

Example #2 - WVU is selling out to stop the run. I know, let's force Daniel to run it anyway (if he breaks through he's in the endzone!). Once the coaches caught on to this and started letting him dink and dunk he went 8/8 passing. That's as good as it gets.

Not sure what the relative strengths/weaknesses of the upcoming Cyclone defense are, but we should play to the strength of our QBs relative to where they're weakest.

I agree with this, but its a product of how Snyder is choosing to use the system. I talked about it in another post this weekend, but for the most part there is one offensive package and Snyder is running the same package for both guys. Granted, there are a few tweaks for each guy (Sams running more QB leads/power, Waters throwing down the field), but its still the same base system. When you have two guys that actually reduces what you can do instead of expands it because Snyder is not trying to run a completely different system for each quarterback. In this case you have to have a broad enough package that can fit both guys, yet still have enough diversity that you can have play calls that truly fit the skill set of each player. That is something that has continued to evolve as the season goes along and will continue through the final 5 games; it also leads to some of the periods of very ugly play with no rhythm in the offense. That's the system Snyder has chosen this year, so we'll just have to live with it, at this point the only change that could be made is declaring one guy the starter and building around him, but that isn't likely going to happen.

It doesn't matter if you prefer Waters; the entire premise of moving him is dumb.

a) He's already proven he can contribute and make plays at the QB spot.
b) This team has 2 QBs. Bill is not going to take one away and leave an inadequate backup.

Both of them suck enough and make enough errors to get playing time.

Its pretty obvious that this is Jake Waters' Superbowl this week. How could you guys not want him to start?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jake come up in while Sams is at QB and and line Sams up at the slot and go hurry up.  Maybe just like 5-6 plays a game  :dunno: to see if we can get TLBL or TT singled up on the edge which seems to work pretty well for us.  Of course, the 1st time Jake threw a slant and got Sams decapitated I would have to run down on the field and choke him out.

Bad news everyone. Our guy Daniel is down to #11 best statistical QB in the country now. And Jake slipped a bit to #92

Which of these QBs that are currently ahead of our guy do you think Daniel can pass by seasons end? Assuming Bill gives him the opportunity of course. Seems like there has to be a couple puds in the list given how many people claim QBR is a meaningless stat:

1   Bryce Petty, BAY
2   Marcus Mariota, ORE
3   Jameis Winston, FSU
4   Aaron Murray, UGA
5   Johnny Manziel, TA&M
6   Teddy Bridgewater, LOU
7   Zach Mettenberger, LSU
8   Taylor Kelly, ASU
9   AJ McCarron, ALA
10   Braxton Miller, OSU
11   Daniel Sams, KSU
