This is more clinical research than smack...You know, like when anthropologists come across a remote village of indigenous people, who've been cut off from the outside world?
Kansas is remote and isolated enough (particularly the western meat packing areas) for the same factors to be at work.
It's interesting to see what qualifies as smack here...
