Hfbiq guys weigh in here.  Chris Sims basically called our staff 'tards all 2nd half.  Continually running Sams against 8 in the box, where we were outnumbered up front.  Seemed like he was right.

What's the consensus?  Miller drunk?

Our blocking sucks when sams was in because they know what bill is planning due to our racist color coated offense

Everyone we play, when Sams is in the game, puts as many in the box as they can, today was no different. I think WVU's defensive line is solid, they are bad other places on defense. Last year we only had 146 yards rushing and less than 4 yards a carry, Klein was just ridiculous throwing (333 yards) and we had no turnovers.

Gronk is probably the worst blocker on the team. And that includes our wr's and te's (who are unbelievably bad blockers).

great game by the staff.  i remember telling seven at halftime, the staff's plan is perfect, just give it time.

So how did Sams run it against OSU and BU?  WVU just that much better up front? Or we just that bad at adjusting?

I think WVU was pretty good up front and had a good plan, plus we didn't execute our blocking schemes nearly as well as those 2 games. Fortunately we were (finally) able to take advantage of WVU's secondary, just like Klein did last year.

WVU is pretty decent against the run, and Bill seems to be in this weird zone where he doesn't pay attention to what the other defense is doing at all. Even in the second half where we rolled, he still felt the need to smash Sams into the line even when #life was tossing the ball around the field with ease.

If a team has 8 in the box sams is supposed to check out.   He wasn't and he didn't play much down the stretch.

Maybe don't rely on a kid who loves to run to check out of runs. They could just call more pass plays. WVU is good against the run and horrible against the pass. Sams should have checked out some of those plays, but the coaches also shouldn't have called those plays to begin with.

There's absolutely no doubt that Bill doesn't care what the other team is good at stopping and if the QB doesn't check out and use the "system" than this offense is going to struggle.    If they don't check out than Bill-Del-Dana are going to keep trying to stuff that square peg into the round thing over and over.    They really are stubbornly woeful at times.

LOL @ Sams being "woah, I need to check out of this" with 5 on the play clock.

The offensive staff is unspeakably horrific. I made the decision in the first half that I was done getting angry at Jake. The coaches do such a poor job putting the QBs and the entire offense in a position where they can be successful.  I watched as we were struggling to do anything with the ball as WVU ran a creative offense for their garbage qb. How great would Daniel Sams be on that bootleg they kept running for Trickett? Waters shouldn't have fumbled because he shouldn't have been in that position. We have no creativity with play calling at all, and I'm not referring to trick plays I'd be happier if we went beyond page 3 of the playbook.

Both of quarterbacks are much better than they played and it is 95% the fault of the coaches. The offense played well the last 20 minutes despite the play callers.

This all is a product of having a 2 QB system.

There isn't enough time to truly implement completely different packages for each quarterback, there are only subtle tweaks to the package to fit each QBs strength. Frankly, it would be tough for the other 10 guys to have to deal with two different packages as well because it would be too much to learn. So there is one game plan and because you have two guys who have different skill sets you have to limit it with a few wrinkles for each quarterback.

For example, its clear they don't completely trust Sams on zone read plays and the majority of zone reads (since the Texas game) come when Waters is on the field. They have opened up speed option lately to Sams, but its clear the major running game they trust Sams with is power/lead and that's what he's going to run the majority of the time.

In the passing game, Sams is being used in the short to intermediate range, but very few deeper passes. He's just shown an inability to make those reads correctly. But Waters is getting better at those throws and if anything he's shown the short passing game (see the number of high throws he has) is what he struggles with most.

Then a feature play this year, especially yesterday and against OSU, is the quarterback read/seam pass option play. Most of Sextons middle routes were option passes of quarterback lead and several times those turned into runs. I like that we've found a way to run this seam/option to someone other than the TE or Gronk, but its still limited.

Truly the only way the playbook can be expanded is to pick one quarterback and completely build the offense around him, but I don't think that's going to happen. Snyder is going to insist that both have "earned the right to play" and he's going to play both. Hopefully they can find a way to make it (eventually) work like they did yesterday, but with 2 QBs there are going to be stretches where the offense can't get any rhythm. However, I've resigned myself that this is going to be the way it is this year, I'm just going to vent about it on twitter once and a while and move on I guess.

Snyder is going to insist that both have "earned the right to play" and he's going to play both.

All analysts and football IQ types seem to agree that we'd better off if he arbitrarily picked ONE of them and just stuck with him.

What explanation exists as to why Bill won't do that?  Can it be that he made promises to each of them that refuses to break?  I mean, many of us have dreamed/hoped/prayed for Bill to make crazy ass recruiting promises to land quarterbacks....did Bill finally actually do that, and this is the implication of Bill doing that....that, being Bill, he actually tries to keep his word????   It's kinda nuts, isn't it?
