Glad I am not having children. Now I won't have to feel guilty when I ended up loving Winters more than my child.

A rational person could conclude that investment  in Sams this year will be similar to investment in El in 2001.

I don't know if this is directed at me

But I’m going to act like it was, since almost everyone actually agreed with me when I made the original comment anyway.

I’m going to repeat myself.

Waters is the better quarterback.

Sams is the better fit for this team (and is probably the better football player).

The two things are not necessarily the same. That I still think Waters is the better quarterback does not necessarily mean he’s the best college quarterback. It doesn’t mean he’s the best quarterback for this team. But he has more of the skills, more of the talent, and more of the mindset that we traditionally think of as “quarterback”.

Or, to put it another way… two years of starting at K-State, with an expected learning curve and without the distraction of a quarterback controversy, and Waters would have a decent chance to play in the NFL.

Daniel Sams is not going to be an NFL quarterback no matter what. He’s not even Michael Bishop, and Michael Bishop’s NFL career passed by like the life cycle of the fruit fly. The NFL isn’t ever going to embrace that sort of player at quarterback.

Anyone who has ever said or thought that Jake waters could even get a meeting with an NFL team should probably be put in a home of some sort. A home for stupid rough ridin' idiots or something.

I don't really understand his point.

Quote

Jake Waters is the superior quarterback.

Daniel Sams is the better option.

Happy and I went around and around and around and around and I don’t think anyone really grasped what the argument was really about. Jake Waters is the better quarterback. Daniel Sams quite clearly has flaws which the coaching staff, as I had guessed and continued insisting, recognized and were hesitant to give him the keys as a result. After today, what we know is this: the offense is more balanced and effective with Sams in there, but it’s not the slam dunk a lot of people thought it would be. Waters’ strengths are Sams’ weaknesses. Sams’ strengths are Waters’ weaknesses.

In this case, whether it’s a function of the playcalling or the attitude of their teammates, the offense just works better with Daniel. In that respect, Happy turned out to be correct. The argument never really was about that, though; the argument was about what we knew and had reason to expect. And ironically, when it comes to actually being a passer, I think Sams gets a lower grade than we suspected. It’s just that the overall package adds up to more than the overall offense with Waters, and the reason for that is that the running game actually opened up today.

Sams proved to be a very competent passer yesterday.  He has limits (decision making with the deep ball), but yesterday proved that he's at least as capable a thrower as Klein was.

Also, and this can't be stressed enough, our two best receivers weren't playing.
