I think Sams has a huge upside and is clearly the starter going forward. Will he become good enough to take this team to the level of last year, or are 6-6 seasons the most we have to look forward to from here on out. I saw some promise, but I really don't know what to think at this point.

He's only a sophomore and this is the first time he's ever had control of the offense for more than just a few gimmick plays. He needs to protect the ball, though. He should only be throwing further than 10 yards down the field when the receiver is wide open.

Add to that our only two good receivers were out and we don't have a capable tightend (freakin bullshit). Sexton and Klein run decent routes and have ok hands but they cannot burn a defender like Lockett or Thompson can.

he didn't have the benefit of 3 cupcakes to build his confidence and you could tell he was really pressing the whole game. you can't have a qb that feels like he's fighting for his job and expect him to not make some stupid mistakes in his first full game against a top 25 conference opponent on the road.

This team, this coaching staff, is so rough ridin' horrible.  The rough ridin' penalties....I mean, I've not seen a guy forward lateral a ball like that on a kickoff return....we have a rough ridin' guy with no name on his jersey returning kicks....we have 4.5minutes in the goddamn game and we come out throwing it with Sams?.....and out defense is laughable, simply laughable.  It's a litany of WTF moments.

It's been many years since I've yelled at the TV. I did it at least a half dozen times today. All the things you listed made me boil.

We have to have Sams at QB to have any semblance of a running game, and we have to have a good running game if we don't want to get blown out. The penalties are what really killed us. Those picks don't happen if our offensive linemen could pay attention to what the snap count is in the huddle. Sams doesn't throw nearly as many passes if penalties don't consistently put us in unmanageable situations.

sams is exactly what I thought he was. If anything he made better throws overall than I thought he could. Yeah, his INT's were wooftastic, but he can break a run at any moment and that's just too valuable to keep off the field, especially when Waters is shitting his pants and turning it over at an even higher rate.
