How? That fumble shouldn't have even been reviewable. He was ruled down by contact, the replay official doesn't have sound to figure out when the whistle blew, nor does he know the intent of when the line judge ruled the runner down.

I know you can rule on that, did you miss the part about the replay official not having the luxury of sound. The only way they could have given ISU the ball is if Bergeron fumbled before he hit that pile. He clearly was stripped after contact and since the replay official doesn't have sound he didn't know when the whistle was blown.

It doesn't matter when the whistle was blown. He was ruled down by contact, so as long as he is not down by contact, the play should have been ruled a fumble. Had he been ruled down by forward progress, the play should not have been overturned.

Yeah, the refs suck every game for every team. Texas just got the break this time. I've never understood the mindset that Texas gets the calls. They just used to be really good.

You're absolutely correct, I'm going to assume he misspoke because it was obvious that Gray was not on the ground when the whistle blew. It was also very obvious that the ball came out when Gray was still standing. It seems clear to me that the replay official wasn't looking to see if Gray was down but if he clearly fumbled before he hit that pile.

No, they did a superb job for them in Stillwater last year.  Exact same situation.  But, you are right, every team often wins plays on complete bs calls at the end of the game.  I mean it just happened to kstate..........never?
