On that note, I need someone to explain to me why Leland gave Ellsbury 2nd base in the 9th? Seemed pretty stupid to eliminate the double play and to put another runner in scoring position.

i think pena had a 0% chance of throwing him out, so don't bother trying.

Good point.  How in the hell can that guy be a major league catcher, even a backup when he can't throw, like at all?

I think we're heading for a BoSox-Cards Series.

The mistake was intentionally walking him in the first place.  Farrell managed his ass off.  He got a pinch runner 1st to 3rd on a bunt because of Miggy/Pena and it was clear that was the game plan going in, he followed it up with then showing bunt to get Ellsbury to 2nd.

Leyland was wrong to get Ellsbury on, but right to give up 2nd.

Knowing how poorly Victorino has handled the bat this post season I would have walked Ells too. Ellsbury almost certainly scores Middlebrooks from third. Because of the walk all of the pressure was on the worst contact hitter at the top of the lineup.

As far as I know Boston is the only team left without an ex-royal on the roster

who on Detroit?

Do you guys think the royals would get past either of these teams in the playoffs? 15-11 in the reg season combined

I honestly could see a 4 game sweep where we scored like 5 runs total.

1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 2-1  :royals:

The Sunday game is the only one you'll need to see. Have fun and stuff your eliteness in the fat faces of those shithead StL fans.

Will do.  Btw, did you see what the Terriercats did to the #2 Wisky Badgers at Agganis?  Dominated

Unfortunately I did not. Outside chance I will be at the Beanpot Final this season though.

DNR this whole thread.  I am a baseball guy but as soon as the Royals were out of it, I quit watching.  Is the WS gonna be any good?

No.  It features two easily hateable teams with insufferable fans (except for you MIR).  Imagine if Nebraska played Nebraska in a bowl game and you've got this year's World Series.

Red Sox fans don't spend their entire existence telling everyone that they are the best fans in baseball though.
