9/28 College Football Contests (and on this day God said let the cats rest)

Bread, Illinois looks pretty good this year. Only loss to an extremely good Washington team. You haven't played anybody yet though outside of that game, so who knows what's in store. I would not be afraid of Wisconsin or Nebraska.

I think you have Penn State too high.  They have a true freshman qb and their recruiting has been down thanks to the scandal and scholly restrictions/transfers.

Illinois' defense is very bad.  It is both inexperienced and woefully untalented.  Like maybe it would qualify as a mediocre defense in the MAC on a good day.  It's really going to be a problem against any teams with even decent offenses.  We also struggled to score against the only good team we faced, so our offense while clearly improved from last season could still be somewhat of a mirage.  I don't think they beat Nebraska, in fact I don't think it will even be close (10+).  I don't trust them.

Minnesota's start was a fluke.  They are garbage.  They are not better than Michigan State.

it's just based on what's taken place on the field in 2013.
penn state has a good defense, has beaten a decent Syracuse team, dominated two garbage MAC teams, and lost by 3 to a good/very good UCF team. and they're probably going to beat Indiana next week. you could be right though, and they will probably slide down the rankings as they play more good teams

They will beat Indiana.  Indiana is worse than Michigan State too.

Michigan State has done absolutely nothing to warrant a higher ranking. They have beaten an FCS team and 2 of the worst FBS teams in unimpressive fashion, and lost to losery losers Notre Dame in a 17-13 stinker.

Their defense is very good.  Dantonio will get it figured out enough on offense to be better than Minnesota and Indiana.

I just heard it's on ESPNU.  Stupid on ESPN's part.  Iowa/Michigan State (ESPN2) is going to be a low-scoring snoozefest that nobody gives a eff about.  Solid potential that the breads versus the Pelinis will be a shootout that Americans will want to watch.

Syracuse is bad.  Wisconsin lost to two ranked teams close on the road.  Plus they really got mumped by the refs at ASU.
