Stan Weber Recap (810 Radio border patrol)
« on: September 20, 2013, 08:57:27 AM »
-Last time KSU plays TX with M. Brown?  Losing AD Dodds puts even more pressure on Brown, but there's plenty of time for them to rebound and him to keep his job.

-Nate:  KSU fans underwhelmed so far.  Are the fans right?  Stan:  We've seen this before from K-State.  When they need to step, and a lot of time it's on the road, they do.  And, they'll need to pick up their game to win at TX.

-QB.....Seem to be moving to new approach, two QB's.  Waters will probably start, Sams will definitely play (duh)....and probably a lot more.  Coaches have to be tempted to play Sams more due to their probably with stopping the QB run game.

-KSU defense?  Will have to shore up pass defense as they've had a number of passing TD's already this season.  But, have to stop TX running game.  Don't give up big play.  Make them go entire field, etc.  The most points TX has scored in Snyder II era has been 14.....so Bill seems to have them figured out.

-Prediction?  K-State 24-20

(my opinion:   it seemed like Stan seemed to think if we don't play to our potential, it'll be a close game.....if we play well, we win and somewhat comfortably).

Yes, we have.  2004.

...says Stan before each of our first 3 games.

Well, no crap, Stan.

I know when I am fishing I like to just throw my line out in the water with just the hook and no bait for like the first 10 or so casts.  Just to see, ya know?

First the bad news:  Waters will start and be completely innefective and we'll turn the ball over and lose the field position battle and get down by a couple scores.

Now the good news:  It will only take Snyder most of the first half to make the adjustment and then it will be a heavy dose of Sams for the rest of the game and he will play awesome and the announcers will all be going crazy over him.

Now more bad news:  We will probably lose because we won't be able to overcome the deficit that was caused by playing Waters.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

But what if Waters comes out and throws it all around the yard and is like 8-11 for 187 yards and 2 TDs in the first quarter?

Immediately pull him before his average 2int's catch up with him.  Would be the ideal game plan to get the best of both worlds.

that will really be an accomplishment as UT'S corners have been one of the more talented and consistent parts of their D.

I would put the likelihood of that happening at about 10%.

Then I'd be happy.  Just like I'd be happy if my redbud tree grew dollar bills instead of leaves.

What if Snyder has Waters wear #4 and Sams wear #15.

Starts Waters and UT thinks it Sams and puts 9 in the box, then Waters throws all over them with the numbers I suggested. Then switch in the 2nd quarter and Sams runs all over them. By halftime UT figures it out, but we're already up 31-10 or something.

This is pretty perfect.  Also, can you imagine how adorable Mack would be when discussing this in post game.  It would be the one moment where he went from glum and sad to smiling and entertained.

It's cool.  Clams absolutely knocked it out the park on Thursday Howevers.  Really laid the entire game out so that it was easy to see.

Wow, this may be the best sams vs waters analogy I have ever seen.

Sams is a spear gun with lazer sights.

Or maybe one of those electrical generators that you can shock all the fish to the surface with and just lazily boat around picking up the ones you want.

I think we'll probably do whatever we want on offense this week with either QB.  Texas is completely disjointed on defense, and just the thought of Sams is probably so devastating to them right now that Waters may even be effective when he's in doing Waters things.

Just look at any website that's Texas related.  They're petrified of Sams.  Even if he gets 20 touches, the kid probably gets 2 TD's and 100+ yards.
