The Eyes have it
« on: September 19, 2013, 08:48:43 AM »
Texas can’t stop the run (121st in the country @ 308.7yds given up), neither can KSU (80th in the country @ 171.7yds surrendered)

KSU can’t run (67th in the country) or rather refuses to.

SpiralInterception.com has thrown 5 int’s in 3 games against awful opponents, which is just 4 shy of the season total from last year.

UT actually turns the ball over less than we do (they are +2 in TO Margin, we are -2).

And if you think UT’s defense is just awful, note that our 3rd down conv rate on defense is a paltry 48% (105th in the country), UT’s is 40% (79th in the country).

I think Mack actually watches the ND St. game films and realizes that all he has to do is have Case turn around and hand off and occasionally throw a 3rd down and 4 pass to a wide open WR or Slot Receiver over the middle and keep the chains moving against our god awful defense.  They are going to run the ball and run the ball and run the ball (UT is 46th in the nation in Rush O).  And there really won’t be anything we can do to stop it because we haven’t shown that we can.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dementia will continue to think he’s out smarting other teams by not playing his best player on offense and put the ball in Mr. Int’s hands (at least until he throws the ball into the hands of the other team).

New Big 12 blog guy:

Texas 31, Kansas State 28: The reasons to pick against Texas are many. The Longhorns have been an embarrassment stopping the run, and K-State’s Daniel Sams runs as well as any QB in the league. The Wildcats also own Texas with a five-game winning streak in the series. But QB David Ash should be back in the lineup for Longhorns, and K-State has had its own problems defensively this season. Plus, after K-State linebacker Tre Walker accused Texas this summer of always rolling over, the Longhorns -- if they have any heart at all -- have to show up for this game, right?

Roger’s pick: Texas finally gets it together; plus, very rarely has Texas lost three games in a row. Texas, 24-21

I agree with zacker that we will lose with Waters, but we will absolutely crush them if Sams starts.

It feels like Texas could come out with a bunch of emotion and get after us a little bit early. Like the Nebraska 2007 where they heard how much they suck for 7 weeks then released all that anger on us. Of course we sucked too so.....

It feels more like @ MU in 2010 (MU 38  KSU 28).  Klein comes in and runs over MU then bill gives the ball back to carson to fumble at the goal line.

It is going to be an incredibly frustrating game to watch for fans of both teams.

Klein to Harper before half was pretty amazing... but 121 total yards and some very ugly football.

Even if Ash plays, he's got to be gun shy after that concussion.

If Sams comes in and starts to run all over them, Texas will lay down and give up after the 1st quarter.  If Waters starts, the game will be close the entire time.  This one is on you Bill.

Texas is not going to lay down.  I’d imagine that if we start Sams, we won’t get much out of the first couple of series because Texas will basically be in punt block formation to stop the run (which is why I think Bill will think he needs to put Waters in).  And even if we score first, our defense and defensive special teams are such that no game is out of reach for the opponent.  Our kick off unit is embarrassing.

instead of, ya know, letting Daniel throw.

If Daniel starts, the first play should be that one where he has the pass run option and he throws it to the TE.

Oh man, I was super pak'd at the game. Ranted on about Chris Cosh right in front of his wife (didn't know it was his wife). She was all  :frown:
