Estate taxes seem absolutely criminal.

Yes, but at least money is changing hands here.  With property taxes though, nothing changes.  Just another payment due for continuing to own something.

I think property tax is more fair than income tax, honestly. Taxing wealth makes more sense to me than taxing earnings. A low tax on both is probably most fair, though.

Water softener and no fridge water thingy.  Best case scenario, imo.

we have a filtered water tap on the sink, which is awesome, but the $90 once a year and $45 at 6months in between filter change sucks.    I need to find someplace online that can sell me the filters.

Kenmore softener was like $300, and a plumber put it in for $150.  Only recurring expense is salt which is like $7 a month.  Then you get good water everywhere.

a water softener and water filtration system are 2 different things.   A softener does not filter anything other than multivalent minerals that cause water scale.  and in fact, many softeners bypass the kitchen sink as people wish to avoid the added sodium.

Yeah, a water softener really does nothing to improve drinking water quality. They make your appliances run better and make your water look less cloudy.

I understand the diff in filter and softener. 

Taste wise they may a huge difference, imo.
