For comparison purposes, population of Johnson County is roughly the same as the entire state of North Dakota.

This is hilarous.

Incorrect. The state line is the overpass just to the east of the "Welcome to Colorado" sign.

This gives a better depiction of the situation. Notice the pavement change under the bridge, the "leaving Kansas" sign, and the family up in the distance.

Huh.  Was checking on that and discovered this additional factoid: North Dakota's population was higher in the 1930 census than any census since.  North Dakota: "A Nice Place to Leave."

"I'm thankful our MHK forefathers had the foresight to lynch white dudes so that we might be able to throw up the mob with a clear conscience."

All that being said... what we really came here to discuss. The Red River flows northward, and the ground to the South thaws and ice/snow melts before the water upstream (northward) melts, thus causing this to annually happen:

If there's any place worse than Western Kansas, it's Eastern Colorado.  Such a let down.

Haha that's some good flood smack talk from FloodAggieHill. I have it on good authority that their flood forecasts are done by a Kansas State graduate in Kansas City.

It looks like they really went all-out on the State Capitol building here (nice grass though--good thing they only have to mow 2 months a year):

vs. the Copper Dome:
