MiR did it better than I could have.
Everyone is aware that the individual getting hit at midfield is another willie, right? from what I understand none of them enjoy being put in that position.
I would like to see this specific skit replaced by something more clever, that doesn't have such a high potential for injury for an unprotected KSU Qatz student.
Are they forced to be in this position? Because if so, I reverse my stance.
Why are you having such a hard time coming off of this simple minded point? I'm sure we could get people willing to perform oral sex on Willie, does that mean they should allow it at midfield? The 53,000 people that saw the skit didn't volunteer to see a non football player, seemingly at the time, dying on the field. In addition to the obvious nightmare fuel to the fans and liability risk to the university, the skit is really dated and played. They have been doing that for at least 6 years in a row, it won't be missed.
So now there's a difference between football players and non football players potentially dying?
What I can't get off of, is if someone "wants" to get speared, I really don't care. I'm making an issue of it, because these are the same conversations that lead to talks about changing rules, that in my opinion, ruin sports. Look, I won't allow my kid to play football while he is under 18/my responsibility. But if people are going to do this activity, you bet your ass I will watch. Same reason people rubberneck at car accidents, it's human nature. I don't even really care about the skit - but Jesus, what the eff did any of you expect to happen? Are we going to switch to flag football when a player gets hauled off seizing up after a bad hit? What about the players that live for the thrill of contact sports?
Keep the skit optional, have no consequence for someone opting out, sign a waiver and let people do what they want to do.
