This,  Malaria sucks, we DDT'd the hell out of the US and now no one gets it... we have the technology to dust DDT over all of africa and india and save millions of people from countless amounts of agony... but over exposure to some insects that might get eaten in a high enough quantity by some birds might cause health affects that might result in negative pressure on the overall population... so screw you poor people, you get to suffer, so middle class house moms can drink thier Zimas without fretting over the stupid F'ning bird half a world a way that they'll never see that might be upset with saving millions of human lives.

We really don't "need" to save people. There are more than enough and birds are pretty much carbon neutral.

ddt was banned in the us, not the world.  other countries can use it to control malaria as they like, and some do.  due to evolved resistance, it's not as effective as it was when the us eradicated malaria (not principally by using ddt), and other insecticides have been developed that are about as effective, have fewer known environmental and health impacts, and are similar in cost.  so, most other countries use it sparingly or not at all.
