True powerhouse programs lose to FCS schools.  At home.
Well it's not like they're going to go on the road to play them!

I know it's Bleacher Report, but the discussion of where Bobby Petrino might end up is hilarious.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1766494-which-hot-seat-schools-will-be-interviewing-bobby-petrino-in-december?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=college-football.

A line that will kill our TSC bros:
"A step down the ladder from the Missouri, Kansas is a place coaches go to one day see their names atop a “hot seat” listing."

I think that would be a goot get for both parties.  Given the KU AD's long standing ability to look past adultery in all forms, Bob would be right at home and amoral coaches tend to find success in Lawrkentucky.

Kansas at Rice

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET

Kansas took care of South Dakota without much of an issue in Week 2, but Rice is a different animal.
Or grain. Either one. Or both.
The Owls actually kept things interesting with Texas A&M for a while in Week 1 and ran the ball well. The Jayhawks defense is going have a hard time containing that.
Similarly, Kansas ran the ball a lot against the Coyotes. Charlie Weis said Monday during his Big 12 coaches conference call that the decision to stick with the ground game was more about its effectiveness rather than anything quarterback Jake Heaps did (or didn't) do in the passing game.
It'll be interesting to see if Kansas sticks to that philosophy against the Owls.

Score prediction: Rice 38, Kansas 28 :Woohoo:
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

Bold predicto, considering the line is Rice -fizz :ironic:

I will bet one lucky gE'er the sum of one Andrew Jackson who agrees to take Rice -fizz :ironic: , not because I feel confident about the game, but rather because I'd like to recoup my $8.99 investment for CBS college sports.

Only all of the time, pisspants  :tsc:  I'm offering one lucky gE'er the opportunity to achieve an enhanced level of suspense regarding an otherwise mildly uninteresting game.  If I lose, I will Western Union the money to the lucky, handsome fan (not responsible for lost or stolen receipts).

Grantland did an article on Weis...and apparently never really sat down with him. So Weis is mad.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9659500/the-long-road-ahead-charlie-weis-kansas-football

Also, yay nepotism!

Quote
He has since amended that statement — perhaps with some prodding from the athletic department — noting that, in fact, he would like nothing more than to last long enough to hand the reins to his son, Charlie Jr., a student assistant for the Jayhawks. During practice, Charlie Jr., who is a 20-year-old junior at KU, is one of the few other coaches in long sleeves, a trimmer version of his father. (If Charlie Sr. is the size of a lineman, his son would struggle to fill the punter's shoulder pads.) Charlie Jr. is seen as an extension of his father's brain, with the best understanding of Weis's complicated offense, and in spring practice Charlie Jr. would often stop drills to help players figure out how to run Weis's schemes. One KU assistant told Weis that his son could be a position coach at the Division I level right now, while Weis said an NFL team had called in the offseason to offer Charlie Jr. a full-time position

they mad.

http://www.needisaymoore.com/2013/09/11/hey-grantland-how-about-you-give-charlie-weis-a-chance-to-work-at-ku/

I don't know if I want KU to lose to Rice and this guy to be shown as an idiot or for a win against Rice to make this guy feel completely validated.

From SI's Okie State story:

William Bell and Thomas Wright say they smoked marijuana before practice and/or games with other players. Anthony, Bond, Mickens and Woods say they knew teammates who got high before practice and/or games, most often before matchups with "run-over teams" like Kansas.

the grantland article was written by like a 3rd generation squawk, and they are still super mad at him.  it's pretty great how unless you say ku is going to dominate college football for the next 50 years, then the article sucks.

You're predicting a loss, then, I take it?  Would losing on the road to a solid Rice team be worse than losing at home to an FCS school, tho?
