I think they already did last week
Yes they did, but not enough to stop Nebraska from calling. Leipold reportedly will make $3.5 million in the final year of his deal in 2027. In April of 2021, Leipold signed a six-year con-tract with an escalating annual salary that would pay him $16.5 million over six years, or an average of $2.75 million per year. Adding the seventh year bumps Leipold’s average com-pensation to $2.86 million per year over the life of the contract. Only $5 million buyout

KU finally making a solid hire and then losing him after year 2 would be pretty delicious actually

So does Vance Lightpole bolt for Nub in season or does he at least wait until after the annual Sunflower beat down?

It is KU we’re talking about here. When it comes to football it’s either half measures or shooting both feet

Are ppl confident that this isn’t just who Nebraska is now?  Can we talk about that?  I mean, their super weird and are not good at football unless they have a super weird coach or unless they go back in time 30 years. I think KU would be better in most ways.  Scott Frost is No-TMobile-Signal Jesus and they just axed his ass. What chance does anyone else even have?

I am calling it. Nubb is done for like 20yrs or so. Maybe climate change will make Nebraska more appealing, or something. But right now?  Gross.

Liepold really could build something very respectable at KU and have none of the pressures that exist at NU.

Or he could add 20-30 million to his family fortune

Managers and administrators are prone to over correction after a particularly bad experience. I think LL is safe because Nubs is going to likely be looking for a defensive mind for their next head coach after having been so badly burned by Frost - supposedly an offensive ‘genius’  :'bye cruel world:

But I’m very often wrong so eh…

Agreed, however he’ll have to clear the hurdle of his staff members being hired away for better/higher paying jobs.  The OC is going to have plenty of schools wanting his services.  I was shocked how much Michigan State paid Hazelton, when they came after him.  I think Leipold has done a great job of retaining coordinators to this point in his HC career.

Yeah, we'll see. LL has kinda done the Klieman thing of retaining his core group of coaches over a number of years. Maybe they're loyal enough and KU tosses them enough bones to stave that off for a while. But also, we need to pump the brakes a bit before crowning them. We beat a patsy and then one of the worst Big 12 teams who happens to be poorly coached. By KU standards, that's a lot of improvement. But KU standards can skew perspective.

If Nebraska does hire Liepold, KU should do the sensible thing and hire the OC. It's entirely possible that he's the brains of the operation, anyway.

At this point i think Klanderman and Riley are his only two coaches that are from his core group at NDSU.

I mean, we've won 2 out of our last 3 conference road games and lost the other by 3 points. This is just what we expect, now.
