Uh oh for Les, but maybe good news for the Hawks. Maybe they can fire him for cause, on the grounds that he lied during the hiring process (I assume they asked him if he had enormous skeletons in his closet, etc.).

Firing for cause is less of a disaster than firing without, but unless he's satisfied, KU is going to have to settle/litigate the buyout regardless.
Anyway, KU losing their football coach on March 5 (or anytime before the end of the summer) would be a total disaster. I don't think there's any way they can make an outside hire anytime soon because of the chronic financial strains on the department, and because the carousel is over (spring practices are starting like, right now), so you're left with promoting the most qualified internal goof on an interim/lame-duck who doesn't have the Miles cache to promote on the recruiting trail. To boot, there will almost certainly be additional roster attrition thanks to the free-transfers.
It's a total, complete, impossible to over-state disaster.
If there is any,
any, avenue for retaining Miles, they gotta take that route.
