You have to go all the way back five coaches ago to 2005, when the big man finally hit year 4 with an awesome 7-5 record, which was their first winning season since Glen Mason was their head coach and went 10-2 in '95 only to leave them the following year for (ironically in this thread) Minnesota.

They’d be 6-6 this year if Beatty was allowed to finish what he started.

If the o/u is set at 2.75 years at KU, what would you go with?

So many things to consider. I think if he does well the rest of this year or next, he'll jump at the first offer at a job... if he loses out and looks like crap next year, they will want progress in year 3 and might pull the plug..

Is KU too broke to fire him? They still can't pay Beety.

Or option #3 - His mental capacity is so low by that point he just stutters and stammers without coherent thought.

Oh wait...

Pure genius on his part.  His mental capacity will either get better or worse depending on their record.

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

And the announcer is KSU guy. How do we end up with KSU coaches, KSU ADs and KSU game commentators? KSU never has KU anything, so tired of it.

I've hit the wall of being excited. Year after year of naively getting excited for each season (except maybe Beaty's last one, I knew we had zero chance), only to get kicked in the nuts each time, will leave you a bit jaded.

At halftime of the game today, I just lost it. I went through the house screaming, letting out 10 years of pent-up frustration. Two weeks to prepare and we come out looking like absolute dog ***** on both sides of the ball. Another run-run-incomplete opening possession. More ridiculous pitch plays. No run blocking. Absolute air defense on OSU's first drive. I was just done. Finally. I'm normally a positive person, but I just snapped. I'm just tired of not just being bad a football but being completely ****** inept in every phase. I'm tired of the constant disappointment and embarrassment.

I'm finally beginning to live in the realm of reality. The BC, Tech and Texas games were just flukes. We are going to suck even more next year. There is no way around it. Our offensive and defensive lines are and will continue to be a complete joke for the foreseeable future. You can't compete when you get beat up front constantly. If Les is the guy, and in my mind that's a BIG if, it will be years before we put anything on the field that we can be remotely proud of.

Les. We were all excited (at least the vast majority of us) when we landed him. But let's be honest, he isn't the same guy who won a NC. He is ... slow. Don't tell me he's always been that way, because he hasn't. We got Les Light. If we're honest with ourselves, I think it's clear we didn't get the guy we thought we got. KU football is absolutely snake-bit. I'm convinced of it.

So to sum it up, no, we can't have nice things. It's time to accept that and find a nice Saturday hobby.

KU Hawk Football has a longer sellout streak than Notre Dame, the famous school from the movie Rudy. EXTEND LES THIS MORNING.

At least a few of them might be finally seeing what we saw after his first press conference as KU's new coach....dementia.   :frown:  Les Light is a very good word for it.

Say what you want about the Hawks, but they have definitely improved.  There are now 5 (FIVE) BCS teams ahead of them on this list.   Wow!

Meh, in my humble opinion Les is doing about what he needs to do... Keep KU football in the news, sell some home game tickets, tell fans that he will get them to be contenders soon, and recruit high school players.  He has done these things and their recruiting class is currently well ranked.

If he can do these things for another couple of seasons, pick up a few 4-5 win seasons and maybe get the university to improve the stadium then his real job will be done.  My sense is that, despite the media portrayals, Les is a fill gap to attempt some relevancy while KU heals financially and finds its next coach.  I could be way off, just my view from the outside.
