Unless Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh or some other no-brainer is looking for a unique challenge, then Beaty is my guy for now (sure, we suck balls, but why in the world shouldn't we, given all that has transpired?). Instead, my focus would be on the things we can control that don't necessarily require winning. Chiefly, the game-day experience.
I believe at Ole Miss they have a saying that goes something like "We lost a lot of games, but we ain't never lost the party." My mission would be to create one of the country's best game days. I would send people all over the country to see how other schools do it, to borrow and steal and try to put it all together in a way that is uniquely KU. The centerpiece of it all would be, of course, a dramatically remodeled stadium, but it has to be more than that. My job would be to create this vision and go on the road, selling it to the alumni base.
Let's face it, from a strictly competitive standpoint, the best we could ever be is a poor man's Iowa. That's not a vision we could sell to an alumni base that knows what it feels like to be a national elite. Who's opening their checkbook for 4-6 wins most years, maybe a 9+ once a decade? But we have a beautiful setting for football that, with some investment, could be truly special. Making this happen -- along with maintaining the school's meal ticket (men's bb) -- is my primary job as A.D.

Scraping Memorial isn't being considered and it won't happen and shouldn't happen for a variety of reasons.  Here's why:
Cost:  It is far more economical to modify what we have than to start from scratch.  I'm amazed at houses that I think are complete teardowns that are, instead, gutted and remodeled.  The cost to rebuild the sidelines would be huge and unnecessary.
ADA compliance:  By modifying a grandfathered stadium, KU can largely avoid a lot of ADA compliance issues (see Allen Fieldhouse).  If you start from scratch, the entire stadium would need to comply with ADA requirements.  Not only would this further increase costs, but you could lose some "crowd intimacy" issues (wider aisles, more spread out seating, fewer seats close to the field)
Unnecessary:  I have not heard from anyone that the base stadium is structurally a problem.  That said, many of the "mega stadiums" have a base stadium the same age as Memorial.  OU, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas and Nebraska immediately come to mind.  If it doesn't make sense for them, why would it make sense for us?
