Has SMU hired yet?  They may cut to the front of the line on Warriner.

Has a school ever went without a coach? I kinda like the idea of it. Let the players recruit the players and just run wild with it.

Ed Warinner is the same hire as Charlie Weis.  Fat old guy looking to cash in who isn't a head coach.

the Phog is amazing........just gonna leave this here....

All that said, it still has to be one of the top 40-or-so jobs in college football for a number of reasons. If Zenger can't shed light on the challenges, sell all the positives and get a good coach to sign on the dotted line, it's no one's fault but his own. I really hope he isn't pissing in the wind yet again.

I know right? What is the best possible long term plan for KU? They need a lot of money to rebuild their crap facilities. Donors won't pay out because they are happy just being good at basketball. They have to bring in a coach who can recruit to their pud stadium, work with no fan support, and still win enough games to garner attention. Maybe KU should just go the UAB route? Save a lot of money be just eliminating a horrid investment?

It really is.  It is like a guarantee to hit the $10M lottery and getting a sideline seat to watch a bunch of really good college football teams play against whatever you rag together for two yrs.  Comes with perks like free big XII basketball seats, probably a car, a plane to take a bunch of recrucations, and you can troll the media's ass off weekly.  It is basically the best pre-retirement job in the nation.

If they end up with some loser like Warriner or Beatty they will blame our beautiful Dr. Zenger instead of facing reality that it's a career suicide position.

It is worse than the ISU job which is career suicide.  The only coach to make it out of Ames with any hope was Chizik and he bolted FAST because he knew it would end his career's throat if he stayed.

Buyouts are for ppl that don't give coaches the time they need to turn a program around.  They show a lack of confidence.  5yr guaranteed contracts on the other hand, that is where the market is if you want to show the market you are serious and ready to invest.

Their fans will tell you that it shows potential coaches that they are serious about getting and competitively compensating a high level coach.  They say this while simultaneously asking you to ignore how quick they burn through the actual coaches themselves.

Good thing our Curriebot is incapable of two things; emotional contract decisions and any emotional attachment whatsoever.

just remembered this guy. he should apply, zenger would be blown away.

Quote from: resume
My football philosophy is basically an attacking one. We're going to give AIR RAID a whole new definition. Theoretically how many times do you think a team can pass in a game? Challenge accepted. We're going 5 wide, chucking the pigskin all over the place. Never punt. Onside every time. Chip Kelly will be calling me to learn my offense. We will put on an exciting brand of football, we will pack them into the Alerus Center night in and night out, go ahead and blow the roof off the place and add about 35,000 seats to that place.
