The cost of living in San Francisco is just so high. I'm not sure the head coach of the 49ers can afford it. He could crash on the top floor of the Oread for free if he took the KU job.

Relatively higher than Arrowhead & wherever the Seahawks play combined.  Per person of course.

Jim is going to come to KU.  All of your buttholes are puckered up so tight right now because you really don't think we have a chance.  Let me just outline this for you in a way that you guys can understand.

Jim was without a doubt coming to KU before Gill was hired but Zenger jumped the gun.  Jim's wife has strong ties to the Kansas City area and I have heard reports she has always wanted to be closer to home.  This would be a great opportunity for Jim to build his own dynasty here in Lawrence.  He is a proven winner and with the potential that resides in Lawrence he could build a monster.

He would not make the same mistakes that Charlie did.  I can guarantee you that much.  Once he got his players and coaching staff in place the money will start to pour in from donors that have long waited for a perennial power in football.  The stadium would be expanded and Jim would continue to provide strong leadership into the future.  He is coming and I can not wait for this ride.

Sounds like Harbaugh is pretty much banging down the door for the opportunity to coach at KU.  They have 27 page thread dedicated to this very topic.

You bet your a$$ that's what's going to happen!!!!!  Hey, the Royals are going to the World Series this year-- it's about time KU football catches a few breaks too.  This would be the biggest break we've ever had, and there's definitely a chance it could happen if things break the right way.  Sarah, you don't want your kids to grow up in that California cesspool, do ya?  Come home to the good and pure Midwest,  and bring Jim with you.
I actually think California is quite nice.   :dunno:

what do you expect when 95% of their fanbase has never left johnson county? of course the majority of them think the entire state of california is a cesspool.

Normally, I would find this delusional behavior from Lawrence very funny, but it's going to crush them when this doesn't happen.

When the time comes, let's all remember to do our best TSC and help get them through the inevitable.

Anything can happen because there's diffently smoke in the Harbaugh/49'ers management issues.

That said, I'm not really seeing much of a cesspool feel to Atherton, I always kind of wondered where the Silicon Valley Billionaire enclave was because I've only spent time in the Sacramento area, never in or around San Fran and relevent burbs.

Who knows, maybe Mrs. Harbaugh needs a little more Olathe and Lawrence would fill that role perfectly.

Holy eff...
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

I know this is late Chuck Weiss stuff, but I found it to comical not to share.

Today I was talking with a friend of mine who played at KU in the mid/late 90's. He has a friend who interviewed for an assistant coaching position last year with Weiss. He said when he walked in, Chuck was sitting there with a polo on and a blanket. He thought this was odd because it was June and not cold outside. After the interview, he asks Bowen what the blanket was about, and he said Chuck gets too sweaty wearing pants, so he just hangs out without pants and covers up with a blanket.

He also told another tale of a time when Weis got up from his computer to get something from a printer on the other side of the room. When Chuck got up, he was sporting no pants.

Let that image sink into your brain for a minute. :sdeek:

The fact that you don't see the potential that Jim has in Lawrence is very comical.  Stanford was 16-40 the 5 years before Jim got there.  Once he got his guys in there, Stanford went from being terrible in the Pac-12 to winning the Orange Bowl.  The only reason Shaw has had success is because he inherited what Jim had already built the short time he was there.

The Big 12 is a much better conference than the crap Pac-12 with much deeper recruiting opportunities.  You give the reins to Jim with the opportunities available in Lawrence, watch out.

KU was 21-35 the 5 years before Mangino got there. He took a laughing stock of the Big 12 to an Orange Bowl championship.  Then....
