- K-State can put in 100,000 more seats, a jumbo-tron that puts Jerry's to shame, strip clubs at 4 corners of the stadium, and so on; and KU will still be a generally more desirable school for recruits to go to.  Snider will retire some day, and with him will go the KSU program.  They can have the best facilities in the world, it won't save them from being in Manhattan.  There's only so much lipstick you can put on that pig.  KU will always have more money, a better school, a better campus, better looking women, a better night life, closer to a city/airport, and I could literally go on for 6 pages- but you get the point.

Schools like UT, OU, and KU will have no problem finding a new home- they'll likely even get their pick between big 10, SEC, PAC, or ACC.  I'm sure OSU will be fine, likely landing with OU wherever they go.  Baylor, WVU, and TT should have enough for a BCS conference, but they'll be sweating it out until they get an invite.  TCU, ISU, and K-State will all likely end up in the Mountain West Conference.  All that work on KSU's stadium, all that recent success in football, #titletown won't be worth the T-Shirts they're printed it on when it comes to conference realignment.  KU's AAU status, their med school and law school alone will be enough to get them an invite to a major conference.  Then you have our elite, national brand basketball, our ability to carry the KC market; and guess what, by that time we'll have a new stadium, a new coach, and Snyder will be 6 feet under.  We'll be the best football team in this state.

Is Realignment still a really big thing? I'm also extremely skeptical that if it does happen that KU will have a new football stadium let a lone one without a track.

why in the world would we add 100,000 more seats?  At some point you gotta figure having the largest stadium in the world in NE Kansas would be a little overkill  :dunno:

Guys, KU would get to pick where they want to go even if they didn't have a good bball program. The bball is just the icing on the cake.

I agree with that guy that putting 4 strip clubs in at the Bill would make Memorial a more attractive venue to watch a football game, regardless of what other improvements we may make.

The only people that see a huge difference between Lawrence and Manhattan are people who have lived in Kansas their whole lives.  A recruit from Texas cares that one program wins more, puts more players in the league, has better coaching, fills the stadium, and has better facilities.  They don't care that Lawrence has another Applebees.

Will MHK be bigger than Lawrence when/if realignment happens again?

it depends when/if it happens again. If it is around 10 years or more, maybe/probably. If it is more in the 5-6 year range, doubt it/probably not.

I have to remind myself that there are fans of schools who actually don't understand this.

Exactly. It seems so incredibly obvious.
