Every time Beems posts that picture of BSFS, it makes me think how great a view the NBAF will have.

When it (NBAF) gets finished i want and updated photo shop of the view.  With Robert floating by in the lazy biohazard river sippin on gin and juice

Our track dates back to pre-WWIII. History and a world-class on-campus setting.

Well technically speaking every track on the face of the earth was built prior to WWIII, so we aren't special in that regard.  :Flamethrower:

Yeah but ours does AND we have the greatest setting in all of college track, which is why it's extra special.

So did WWIII already happen and I just missed it?   You obviously meant to say WWII, so that's why I quoted you and made light of it.

Anyway, yeah I think we did some major renovations to R.V. Christian Track prior to the 2005 season.  That spring we hosted the Big 12 outdoor track championships, and it was the first time we had hosted our conference championships in decades if I'm not mistaken.  I think we had to completely replace the existing track surface at the time and bring everything else up to snuff because it had kind of been neglected prior to that.

For the record, I was asking about KU's track removal dream (i.e. Memorial).  Not the new track complex.

Nope, was making a reference to a small subset of KU fans on the Phog who don't want to tear down Memorial Stadium because it has been there forever and is a war memorial.

Oh man,

I'm so glad our track is nestled into our campus and not in the middle of a landfill.

By the amount of celebration going on from the squawks over this new Shawnee Co Track complex, I was starting to think that our track was still cinder or something, but based on pics, it looks like we are pretty much up-to-date. :Woot:  Thanks JC!

You guys should probably at least wait until KU's track complex is finished before starting the circle jerk.

Hey guys, anyone know if we're planning on moving 3 or 4 of our athletic facilities 5 miles off campus?

In all fairness, no one really gives a crap about how nice a track facility is.

I hope it's nice, though.  I imagine a lot of Centennial League meets may be held there and hosted by Shawnee Heights.

Go T-Birds!

I understand ku's Memorial Stadium beat us to the lazy river a long time ago.  Gameday at ku's memorial stadium is a brown water adventure on the upper levels as the toilets overflow sending human excrement flowing forth to the few who dare attend.

Get the inner-tubes, kayaks and canoes out kids it's a $hit River adventure for one and all!!

Hey guys, let's build a brand new track complex that we hope attracts national events . . . but let's not put any restrooms or concessions on one entire side.

Seriously, last game I went to we were in the bowl and the condition of the bathroom was apalling. Surprised it doesn't violate some sort of city code. Seriously, if you go to a game there make sure you wear shoes that can withstand at least an inch of standing pee water.

With all of the BSFS NEZ buzz, I got to thinking about KU's track renovation.  I though that thing was fast-tracked (pun intended) to be done before the '14 football season.  Yet, here we are in Feb and there hasn't been any track-removal chatter for 4 months.  maybe the new bball dorms pushed it down on the priority list?

HKUFBIQ folks, what's the story here?

The track program has its complex.  This is a pic from early December '13:

Next step will be removing the track from Memorial.  Expect some renderings in the spring.

I thought this was supposed to be world class? Like hosting nattys and crap. It looks like crap.

Not sure what you mean, but that track surface is leading-edge technology.  It's currently regarded as the present future of track surfaces.  I guess you just judge a track complex by the size of the stands?  LT&FIQ much?

Fun fact: St. Joe grade school in Shawnee had that exact same track surface when I was whipping ass in CYO football there in 2005.

I had that exact same experience when I went to see the Cats play in Lawrence this past November.  Seriously, most of the bathroom floor was covered in water (probably mixed with pee).  I had to step carefully to keep it from breaching the soles of my shoes and getting my socks all wet.

I understand the restrooms in many of their classroom buildings are in the same shape. Classrooms too.  :runaway:
