I imagine the track removal process is similar to removing a tattoo, correct? Lots of awkward scarring left behind etc.

They go from a dump college football stadium to a dump 2A track complex, the track team has to be furious.

I really am curious to see what they plan to do with their stadium without the track. They have no business adding seats so the plan to lower the field seems ridiculous. The phog general consensus is that they should copy us and square off the endzone, and who could blame them. It will be interesting to see what happens in 2017.

Seeing as how that will be year 5 of #ThePlan, I suspect we'll be trying to figure out how to construct rafters from which to hang our natty champy banner.

With all of the BSFS NEZ buzz, I got to thinking about KU's track renovation.  I though that thing was fast-tracked (pun intended) to be done before the '14 football season.  Yet, here we are in Feb and there hasn't been any track-removal chatter for 4 months.  maybe the new bball dorms pushed it down on the priority list?

HKUFBIQ folks, what's the story here?

The track program has its complex.  This is a pic from early December '13:

Next step will be removing the track from Memorial.  Expect some renderings in the spring.

I thought this was supposed to be world class? Like hosting nattys and crap. It looks like crap.

Not sure what you mean, but that track surface is leading-edge technology.  It's currently regarded as the present future of track surfaces.  I guess you just judge a track complex by the size of the stands?  LT&FIQ much?

Is that a swamp it's sitting next to?  This thing is going to flood more often than Flood Aggie. Swamp Aggie?

heard rumors that they are going to move football games to this place so that people have room to tailgate and also have a chance to reach max capacity.  further rumors that old memorial is going to be torn down and they are going to put a shrine/museum about allen field house there with a 1000 seat amphitheater for ac/dc cover bands 24/7.
