You guys, beems is going to counter this with the shitty ass house parties that happen around memorial, now nobody goes to the games but he will say its a better venue because of this even tho there is parking for 1200 people and you can pull up 5 min late and get a spot in the front row in memorial and if you did that at bsfs you would have to pay $20+ and be like a 30 min walk away

In 2006 the KSU Foundation shortlisted some Architectural firms to design their new building at that location. The firm I worked for got selected, then the foundation got weird and dropped us and eventually the project...keep in mind this was in 2006/07 right before the economy tanked.  The early proposed designs were better that what that new rendering looks like IMO.  However, I'm happy to see them get out of their current building as it looks terrible.  :billdance:

There might be things I care less about than the foundation getting a new building, but I can't think of any right now

The football stadium should be changed into a soccer stadium.

Parents are already taking their kids to soccer practice and games, because of the risk of concussions in football. The risk of concussions, along with a consistently losing KU team, suggest that it's time to rethink the entire football arena, and not to continue to pour thousands of dollars into a losing team and stadium.

Instead, that money could go for much better purposes. Is this a university, or is it primarily a football club? If you aren't sure of the answer, just follow the money, and you will be able to see for yourself where the money goes.

I don't know why alumni pour their hard earned (I suppose) money into KU's football team at all. Can't you imagine the excitement if that money instead helped reduce college tuitions, we had a chancellor who actually cared about academics, and important new discoveries were made that matter in all kinds of fields-- such as an ebola vaccine and a malaria vaccine, for instance.

It wouldn't take that much to make KU into a real first-rate university, especially if the money now dedicated to football was put into other fields instead.

Then we would be helping the world take new steps forward in many different directions - instead of a wasted afternoon spent watching a football team that doesn't bear watching in the first place, and hasn't for a long time.

I just recently moved back to the Lenexa area and on Thursday night I went down to Memorial Stadium to go see the taking out of the track and it was completely removed. While I was there I was standing by the corner of the stadium by the football building when the door opened and a college kid walked out and I asked him a couple of questions about the track removal. Come to find out he is a manager for the team working with the receivers. He went on to tell me that the field was going to be lowered in 2016. I asked him who told him that and he said Dave Campo.

I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

Wouldn't it only cost $25k to remove a track? I could have donated to do that.
