KU's defense is going to keep any six-win team in the game.

I've always wondered on contracts like these what happens if every coach in the Big 12 has a guarantee that their contract will be in the top half of the conference.

Regarding contracts, i thought this clip from the old WVU AD was interesting regrading Neal Brown's extension and the thought process. Glad it has no similarities to KU's situation thankfully.

I read that LL has signed 16 HS kids in the past two classes.  He doesn't have much time to get out of there before the house crashes.  IDK how to verify that but according to 247, they only have 16 freshman on the roster that were evaluated.

we have 29

A single dude will be out there with a hammer and a hard hat on June 30 just making a big deal about how he's starting the renovations.

Should we give them an insanely high interest loan on November 30th, 2023?

Bravo to Lance’s attorneys. They have seen KU do this before.

Not that great a job if they left out the clause that stipulates that hanging a "Coming Soon" banner is not earnest construction.

A few key dates on the contract.

Buyout only $6 million after May 1, 2023. He can opt out with no penalty if physical work has not started on Anderson Complex on July 1, 2023. He can also opt out if stadium renovations have not physically started on December 15th, 2023. The buyout drops to $5 mill in May of 2024.

Basically, he could leave whenever he wants it a program really wants him.

I would assume hiring a design team and beginning design would qualify as meaningful. If not, that’s going to be a tough date.

Sort of, you can have a significant amount of plans ready if they select something by July 1st cause they'd more or less break ground fairly quick after that (if that's what they do). Underground and foundation work usually begins well before whatever the final design ends up being, as long as weights don't change significantly you can always pile drive a few more piles

I would change order the crap out of them if they didn't have all of their ducks in a row from the start.

The next 6 months is going to be cold calling to get contractors to sign up for next year's football program paid advertisements while trying to imply that it has anything at all to do with getting work with KU.  They can't start anything else until they finish that.

First things first.

Nope. The contract language says “for the purpose of this section, “meaningful and substantial” shall mean the physical construction of the structure and/or grounds have commenced.”

There’s zero chance they accomplish that.

The casual blue-collar fan at KU probably thinks the Big Donar's will do all the heavy lifting for stadium revamp and salaries.  Truth be told, if you think the cost for a seat in the old field house is high, wait until you start order tickets for football.  Lots of dollars in a short period of time, not gradual like most fiscal responsible schools.

That's an awful lot of rape in that contract for Lance,  for having done nothing but make them not laughingstocks.
