So I had pneumonia for the past three and half weeks.  Spent six days and five nights in the hospital.   I don't know what's worse, pneumonia or the hospital.  I had a couple total bitch nurses, the tv was too small, the bed was uncomfortable, the other guy in my room snored.  It was the worst, just the absolute worst.  Not to mention the fact that I had rough ridin' pneumonia.  Also, I think I might be addicted to pain killers now.

There was this one patient there, not sure exactly what she was sick with but she was on suicide watch and she was certifiably insane.  She was a few rooms down from me and every once in a while something would set her off and she would start screaming at everyone and I could see security and the nurses running down the hall to go restrain and sedate her.  One time she walked in my room and was just standing there staring at me.  I kept pushing the nurses button thinking she was going to stab me or something.  Finally an orderly shows up and tries to take her back to her room, she puts up a fight and yep you guessed it, here comes the security guards and nurses to sedate her in my rough ridin' room.  It was at that point I heard they moved her to a psych ward.

I got a lot of catching up to do on here.  Is Fanning a KU fan now?

I thought only old people and children got pneumonia that bad, and that hospital sounds like it's from a nightmare.  Jesus.
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

I had a little heart thing a few months ago.  Nothing major, but I had to stay overnight.  Apparently, while I was there, this guy kept crashing over and over again.  I'd hear alarms going off in the hallway.  It was kind of unsettling.

Pretty much.  That box was the gift that kept on giving.  Med bills have started to come in, already over 70k.  Good thing we have good health insurance.

Pro tip: for anyone in Kansas City who ever needs to go to the hospital, might I suggest choosing another one besides Overland Park Regional.

Most of them were through an IV and they won't give me anymore refills of Oxycodone.  Probs head over to Missouri this weekend for a fix.

Ts and Ps buddy.  Sounds like a freaking nightmare.  Only chick I have ever had coming in my room to just stare at me was a crazed former gf that loved anal beads.  She wanted me to break her arm once so we could spend time together in the hospital.

But...I digress.  Overland Park Regional Medical Center is the worst.  I was stuck there for a week while back home on winter vacation with pancreatitis.  Total downer.

ER is where it's at in terms of chaos. I was in the waiting room throwing up with a level two concussion for a good hour before I got in

A kid smashed fingers got in before me :shakesfist:

morphine is one of life's great pleasures, and the hospital is where you go to get morphine.

Yes, but it's not worth it.  In my case I also had pleural effusion which is massive fluid buildup around the lungs.  Every breath felt like I was getting stabbed in the lungs.  They started me off on hydrocodone and a morphine iv.  It wasn't strong enough so they upped it to Oxycodone and a dilaudid iv.  Dilaudid is about 5 or 6 times stronger than morphine.  Took the pain away and it's scary how good it makes you feel.  Even when I started feeling better at the hospital due to the antibiotics I kept asking for it.  They cut me off the last day I was there and sent me home with more oxycodone.  That stuff is pretty potent too.  They gave me 15 mg at the hospital after they moved me from the ER to an inpatient room and I was so mumped up I had no idea what was going on.  I can see how people could get hooked on that stuff.  I'm actually glad to be off of it, although I did save a few in case I ever need them.

Not true, mom always told me morphine was the strongest.

I woke up the day after Tgiving w/ a pretty bad headache, that i thought was cousin pak'n related.  by friday night, i thought my skull was going to split open, and saturday i have no real memory of.  Sunday I wake up in my own filth ad try to move....but nope. can't move or call for help, so i'm pretty sure I am stroking out.  Lay there for about 1hr making stroky sounds before MeatSauce mom comes in and then we go to the ER.  I still can't talk and my 2 sisters had to carry me out of the house since the ol' legs aren't working.  From the ER, I remember basically getting hosed down and the Dr. trying to get some info from me, and the first of many IV's getting started...but the last thing I really remember is hearing the words "lumbar puncture" (it happened).  Have a few dream like memories of MRI or CT machines, but that's about it. I woke up on Tuesday in Topeka in the ICU with an IV in either arm and a foley cath.  Spent another 12 days at Stormont. Dilaudid drip, WOW, but the comedown of the last 2-3 days was brutal.  cannot imagine what people that go on narcotics long term have to fight. The whole thing was awful, and the first 2 days of being "conscious" in the ICU was a drug haze.  Nothing made sense but it didn't matter. being in the hospital is just terrible, there is only the reality of your own room and condition when your hooked to IV towers and can only get around with a walker. Ended up having a staph infection that settled in my right hip and mitral valve.  Having the joint capsule of my R hip aspirated made me vomit and thinking about it now makes me nauseous.  Get to go back for more in Sept. to have the mitral valve corrected, but that's a scope procedure, so no big whoop.
Infectious Disease Dr. was EMAW and when it was still pretty bad apologized he wouldn't be around, bc Dr. Pepper vs Texas was that Sat. night and he brought me a game program.  :emawkid:

DNR, but T's and P's.

I got a guy on the other line about some white walls
