hubert is a really good running back.  he's going to have an awesome year, and fans of other schools, and our less intelligent fans, are all going to say, "where did hubert come from?!"  when in reality hubert is a really good running back and has been for a while.

I really enjoy these types of things because had any other coach in the Big 12 said that about their team phogtucks.com would be having a field day with it.

But... gE is having a field day with it, ipso facto, you've just conflated phogtucks.com and gE.com  :sdeek:

Incorrect, we've only made a couple of small statements and inquired if any of our coaches had ever done the same thing.   The phogtucks would already have about 15 pages with numerous 800-1000 word posts about how that can't be good for morale and how they're glad said coach doesn't coach at ku.

If K-State was that bad, I wouldn't care if the coach said it.  Having terrible players ain't working.

I would have lost interest before the coach lost interest.  Let's make no mistake.  That is what has happened here.

Charlie will say it at next year's media days, too, god willing.

would you rather him lie and say KU is an amazing team?

Tim you catch a lot of flack here so I'm going to answer honestly.

Coach speak is a term used for a reason, he can say whatever he wants in the locker room but this is big 12 media days and trashing your team in public is dumb

once again this is the wussification of football...no longer can players hit the QB, running backs can't lead with their head to protect the ball and fight for extra yards and coaches get fired for being a little hard on their players. Come on it's football, if you can't handle being called a "pile of crap" when in fact your play was that then maybe you shouldn't be playing football. I have NO problem with what charlie said although he probably could have worded it better.

Huge difference between being called a pile of crap on the field, in the locker room, etc. than having it said at the media. One is perfectly acceptable. The other isn't. Saying such things doesn't make you a tough guy. It makes you a shitty coach. Your defense of it shows how far you went in your athletic career. FWIW.

as we all know media likes to blow things out of proportion. if the players on the team aren't thick skinned enough to be called crap in the media then they need to take up synchronized swimming.

It's not blown out of proportion.  It is a verbatim quote.  I have heard it like 80 times today and Chuck just said it at like 11am.

You truly just don't get it man. The quote really reflects how poor Chaz is at his job.

Jenkins Moore-"dream team national titles ect"

Weis-"big piles of crap, everyone of us. We should be ranked last we're atrocious"

I'm with timhawk on this one.  Charlie was in fact referring to a literal pile of crap with that quote.  The media don't know what they are quoting / talking about.

That is an NFL rule, therefore has NOTHING to do with the collegiate game.

Wouldn't expect a phoggie to know that though...

No one is disputing if ku football is a fetid pile of crap, it clearly is.  We are debating whether the head coach needs to be calling it that in public.

What if the players are all studs and Weis & Co are shitty coaches.  Beems seems to think they've out recruited us for a decade.  Also, Weis does seem to have a lot of bullshit around his program that real coaches don't.  "If coaches look for another job, I'll fire them" & "Players all suck" seem like head games and bullshit.  Maybe you have to find a way to get up off the mat but I can't imagine it will work.

I know many of you are just entertaining yourselves, but for anyone who is actually butthurt about it, you need to view it in context. Charlie was talking about the on-field results of last year. I think an objective observer would agree that 1-11 is, in fact, a pile of crap.  Any player on last years team would agree that the on-field results were sub-standard. You also have to remember that the question was about selling recruits, and his answer was a pitch for playing time.  The players understand how Charlie communicates much better than we do.  I doubt very seriously any of them are hanging their heads and muttering, "gosh coach, but we tried really hard..."

Hell, I'll start it off:

Dear KU Football Recruits and Future Prospects.   If Charles "16 games below .500 in his last 4 years as a D1 coach" Weis doesn't do a good job of coaching you up (while he makes $2.5 million a year) than he reference your performance in the same sentence as "a pile of crap".   He might even call you fat and out-of-shape while he takes a rest on the cooler wrapped in a cold towel.

Its also a pretty big leap of faith to assume that any of those mouth-breathing jucos that Weis recruited even understood a word he said today...

Chuck has his finger on the pulse.  Who knows the team and fanbase better at this point?  This was a challenge to his players and he threw caution to the wind knowing that it never would reach his fanbase anyway.
