Anyone that claims Austin isn't snobby is not elite enough to actually know.

Except I have family that lives there, and it's not snobby at all.

Tony Stark house look alike on the beach as well.  Making his neighbors mansion (michael jordans) look all sorts of pud.  How pud you ask, his pool house is the same size as jordans mansion.

Texas is easily the snobbiest state, right?  Definitely the most state pride. The Texas state flag is on everything down here. Have you ever seen someone flying the ol' "Ad astra per aspera" at their home? Or a Kansas state flag sticker on their car? I can't think of any time.

I've found the most snobby people in Dallas are transplants. But the city has a large number of transplants so I can see where people think it's snobby.

I don't get the Austin hate. The most friendly big city I've ever been to.

Kansas just doesn't have a very cool flag. They could get a new one at my constitutional convention. Of course, we'll be redrawing state lines, too, so let me get back to you on that.

KC people are oddly snobby.

I mean... it's KC.
:shakesfist: Best thing in a 8 state territory.

Point proven.

Well, respond to his question then.

8 States is probably high, but I'd live in KC before most cities.  Denver is cost prohibitive to get out of the smog (would kill a drifter to have enough cash to buy a NICE place in Boulder or Golden).

As a professional, I require two things:  1.  Near a high traffic airport (KCI barely meets this, any smaller and it would not).  2.  Housing costs that are reasonable to allow for ownership of a single family dwelling of over 2500 square feet (e.g. SF does not fit this criteria for me).

2500 square feet seems excessive. I mean, I'm not saying move to SF, I'm saying live somewhere smaller and spend the savings on vacations or something.

If you have a couple kids 2500 square feet becomes pretty small.  We ended up moving to a bigger house because we felt we are on top of each other.

This guy!!!  Working to build KC snob factor by playing the antagonist...nice work ETC.!!!!  Enjoy Napperville!!

It's Naperville and I lived there for nine years.  It's very nice, much like Overland Park and Leawood.  No better though.

Who said kc was huge and important?  It's the best place in the area.

This guy...  :don'tcare:

Being the best of the worst isn't exactly something to hang your hat on.

So, your position is that being the best place to live in a 500 square mile area is a bad thing?

22.4 miles by 22.4 miles makes an area that is larger than 500 square miles, fwiw.

I like St. Louis too, but what Pete said is spot on.

Their snobbiness is so rough ridin' weird.

"Where did you go to school."

"Oh, The Kansas State University of course!"

"Umm.. no, where did you go to HIGH school?"

"What?"

Chicago is a horrible place. I really, really want to like it every time I go there, but it sucks each and every time. It has all the bad big city stuff -- awful traffic, crime, etc. -- and zero of the unique charm of other big cities like NYC, BOS, or SFO.

It's garbage.

California pride rivals Texas pride.

don't have my pride measurement tool handy but if what you say is true i would argue that at least california pride exists for a reason.  texas is an eyesore from top to bottom.

Think whatever you want, PC. You're wrong, but... What do you like about it? What makes it better than say, KC, Dallas or even Fayetteville, Arkansas? I've got nothing.

Restaurants.  Bars.  Sports. Big giant buildings. Public transportation. Lake.

Chicago also has gorgeous architecture, a fascinating history, and for the most part very nice people. People in Chicago seem very comfortable with who they are and less likely to try to fit into a "scene" than most cities. It's also much cheaper than SF or Boston or NYC.

I read the book about Chicago housing and it kind of pissed me off, though.

Everyone from Chicago is like from Iowa or Indiana or something.  Seem like nice folks to me.  :dunno:
