also fwiw I tried to talk about the snobiness of the the residents, not the qualities of the city but pete and co. decided we needed to hash out every pro/con of KC and the surrounding area.

That's where you are really off base.  City doesn't have enough snobs IMO.  most are self-hating suburb residents that began in a rural town and consider KC to be 119th & Nall strip mall.

Horrible use of  :bill:.

Would you like to suggest an alternative emoticon for me to use in place of  :bill:?

Since you feel so strongly about it.

No I would not like to do that.

Too bad, I could have really used the advice of master emoticon user, CartierFor3. Oh well.

Thanks for getting this thread back on track ctc (even if you don't know the difference between Lake Austin and Lake Travis).

I grew up floating around on both. And yes, I know Lake Travis is double mumped. But really, everything in the area's mumped so it doesn't matter which one I use at this point.

Matthew McConaughey will never let Lake Austin be mumped.

Oh. Weird, most people I have talked to seem to think it's basically NYC. (I'm exaggerating obviously)

It's really gross in Chi. Which is too bad because all the beaches and stuff are really neat.

I mean really. Austin metro area is the only place in the world where real bbq and live music exists.  :don'tcare:

Just curious, how is Austin bbq different than say, basically the rest of the USA?
(Agree the music scene is the best of any place I've been)

Only once, and Nashville would be my #2.  From what I've seen, Austin seems a little more diverse/eclectic.

Austin probably has the best music scene relative to size of metro. But Asheville, NC would be close. And so would Nashville, I guess.

My home!    per capita, the scene is very strong but Austin is at least 10x larger.

Both of you describe exactly how and why.  Be specific.  Offer alternatives to the specifics.

If FP, TC, etc lives in some rough ridin' chicago high rise, then he is free to look down upon all of us peasants.

But I get the feeling he lives in a pretty shitty apartment and says "chicago tho"

Meh, I am likely moving away from here, to god knows where, in a couple years anyway.  Just glad to live in the best spot within 500 miles while I can, bro.  Not wasting time, ya know?
