Name surrounding states with something better: Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, etc.
Obviously people in KC look down on the smaller cities in the midwest but BBQ is about the only thing Kansas Citians will get uppity about.  They will get defensive and try to bring the good parts of living there - low cost of living!  All 4 seasons!  2 Major League sports!

RICK PERRY probably took it out in his lifelong quest to make Austin like everywhere else, maaaaaaaan.

Well, respond to his question then.

8 States is probably high, but I'd live in KC before most cities.  Denver is cost prohibitive to get out of the smog (would kill a drifter to have enough cash to buy a NICE place in Boulder or Golden).

As a professional, I require two things:  1.  Near a high traffic airport (KCI barely meets this, any smaller and it would not).  2.  Housing costs that are reasonable to allow for ownership of a single family dwelling of over 2500 square feet (e.g. SF does not fit this criteria for me).

Thanks for further proving my point.

This isn't about the quality of the city (KC is not a great city), it's about the snobby level. Which is off the charts.

St. Louis would fit that description right Pete?

2500 square feet seems excessive. I mean, I'm not saying move to SF, I'm saying live somewhere smaller and spend the savings on vacations or something.

This rough ridin' guy offers zero alternatives.  I put it to you...what cities in 500 mile region do you prefer to KC and why?

Personally, I really dislike St. Louis.  I'd live in Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma City, and Omaha before St. Louis.  Hell, I'd live in Des Moines before St. Louis.

KC needs more confidence (aka dick flopping) like this.  It's no world city but I'd take it over it's peers.

It's relative, though.  What are you deciding between?  That's the key.  Chicago?  Chicago pins KC to the mat in like 10 seconds.  OKC?  GMAFB. See?

I would never live in any of those cities. But we are discussing the snobbiness of the cities. And you are proving over and over how highly KC residents think of KC, even though the rest of the US doesn't give 2 shits about KC.

Don't you see how you are reinforcing the "snobby KC resident" thing?

What's KC got to dick flop about? It's tiny airport? It's small downtown? It's irrelevant (minus soccer) sports teams?

Why would I "have to live within 500 miles of KC"? Do I have some kind of medical condition that insists I be around hayseeds? I don't understand.

Well, there you go.  Nevermind any comparisons about cities within 500 miles of KC, you're above that.  I get it.  Can't even rough ridin' contemplate that sort of mental exercise.  No sir.  Chicago.  End of story.
