Dexter: The Final Season
« on: July 01, 2013, 05:01:05 PM »
Pretty weird ep, right? Like why is that chick not tattling on Dexter? Just so she can study him? I thought she was a serial killer as well, because that'd be a pretty great way to end the series. But if that was the case she would meet Harry's code and she says she doesn't (I believe her).

One of my biggest frustrations with this show is that Dexter has killed at least 2 people that I can think of off the top my head that didn't meet the code. He admitted it at the time but he never really dealt with it, yet they still claim he sticks to it all the time. Oh well, I guess.

Way more than 2, right? Unless we're not counting body guards and drug dealers.

I think the only way for this series to end is him getting a lethal injection, with one last narrated moment of clarity.

She's probably the one that invented "the code" and consulted his dad in a science experiment type way.

Oh that sounds spot on actually. She was in Miami when Dexter was growing up, had access to the pictures he drew (how else would she have them if his dad hadn't given them to her?), knew "Harry's Code", and didn't turn him in. Seems so obvious now.

I just hope the story doesn't take a turn like what I hear the books did.

I'd be pretty pissed if that happened. But they've strayed from the books quite a bit. At one point in the book series I think Astrid become a serial killer, too.

She probably just thinks dexter has stuck to the code, even though he hasn't. She probably doesn't know he was behind laguerta dying (although deb was the killer)

Not getting caught is like rule #1 of the code, so I can see killing her as being rationalized by dexter.

The previews make it seem like she is trying to seduce Dexter; but maybe she is actually just nurturing his psychotic nature for her experiment.

Having read most of the spoilers, this guess is correct. She gave the code to Harry.

I won't be watching the final season. I regret not stopping after they wrapped up the Trinity story-line.

5 and 6 were bad but 7 was better than season 4.

Metalhead, what was your beef with the Trinity end? I liked that season.

Also, whatever you all posted really tiny, I can't read.  :chainsaw:

I think he was implying that he didn't like the stuff AFTER season 4, not the ending of season 4.

Also, to read the tiny text, click quote on my post (its a spoiler).

It hasn't followed the books since Season 1. They aren't going to start now.

Thanks, Hemmy. That was a major spoiler and if it ends that way I will be pissed. (I read the first book. It was meh.)

Hemmy is correct. The beginning of the show, through the end of the Trinity story-line, is some of my favorite television ever. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, all series falter at some point. Even The Wire had a rough season (although it's rough seasons were miles better than most television).

In my opinion the quality of the show dropped significantly after season four. I'm not sure if that is attributable to laziness and complacency, turnover or running out of good material, but I have been disappointed in the show since the end of the Trinity story-line.

Woof. Did not care for the end of episode 4. I mean, if you've thought it out enough to act upon trying to kill someone, you are not going to change your mind after your plan is in motion, especially if you have to risk your own life to change it. And they better have a good explanation as to why Dexter can have feelings unlike that dude who almost killed his dad, and any other psychopath for that matter.

I don't even care anymore, I'm thinking about just watching the last 2 episodes to find out who dies and/or goes to jail. Once Breaking Bad starts up I doubt I'll even remember to watch Dexter.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Vogel is the brain surgeon, but there is a time when she's alone and receives a text from the supposed brain surgeon. Could be a text from someone she was forcing to commit the murders for her? (the song she was listening to when Yates came and kidnapped her was the same on camera when the other dude was killing for the real brain surgeon). Dunno, doesn't really feel like a final season so far. Maybe the second half will be crazy. Also I think the series finale of Dexter and Breaking Bad will air within a week of each other.

So why is she having Dexter look for the killer? Just to observe him in action?

Maybe she gets off on it? Maybe she wants all of her clients killed before she retires/gives up on her career/she realizes all the monsters she created and wants them gone? It could be similar to the season 6 killer, which is really lazy and sad, but lets' not forget it's Dexter we're talking about.
