I love the Fourth, but have become a bit burned out on hours of shooting fireworks. We'll be BBQ'ing, golfing, and pounding some beers.

Any other advice on how to meaningfully spend this great holiday without blowing up stuff in my driveway? TIA.

I just booze my ass off and hang with the kids. Then quickly try to sober up in time to light a bunch of fountains and stuff after dark. Going to suck when the kids get older and tired of fountain type 'works. Will probs have to stop boozing on the best booze holiday :sad: to make sure no one catches fire and stuff. Until then? Going to drink and throw snap pops like there will be no tomorrow.

There's plenty of things you can do if you truly want to do something meaningful.

Volunteer somewhere local
Put together a care package for overseas troops
Write a thank you letter to a soldier..whether you support the war or not most people over there don't have a choice.
If you know a Military family, offer to help out. Mow yard, watch kids or just say thank you.

I will do my usual 4th routine. Get up and pound some brews. Drive a big ass tractor through the parade while pounding brews and throwing candy to the kids and try not to run over any of them.

Come home and get cleaned up and head to what eves Bloodfart BBQ is going on. Pound a crap load of brews. Prolly have a water fight with all the Bf kids and make one of them cry.

Heard a guy here at work sells "the good stuff." But I'm too nervous to ask him. I think he'll think I'm a narc or something. It's because I can't grow facial hair probably.

Probs drugs, not explosives. Eitherway, you should def ask. Maybe lead off with, "I am not with law enforcement..."

Based on the input so far received, my Independence Day looks like this: get up; hang the flag from the deck; coffee; golf; return home and start the BBQ; break out the good beer; start the binge; serve the meal; blow crap up and watch the neighbors blow up some stuff; continue the binge when all the crap is blown up; nightcap and to bed.

Did I miss anything?

If he won't sell you anything, you should get those little things you stick into the end of cigarettes and then put them in all of his joints. He will light up for a little 4th of Jul-High action and then BOOM.
