it's obviously happening
don't rely on slyin' james to tell the truth
Maintenance budget has remained constant. AA gates just got a huge upgrade....planes are carrying more passengers and security hold areas  can't handle the increase..
but let facts get in the way of fearmongering.

A) we aren't opening Denver international or their traffic.

B) still long lines at 10am....but ya know....convenience

https://twitter.com/lacleaver/status/921042071452037120

Lines will always look worse because they don't serpentine like most places. That doesn't seem like much of a line TBH.

That's a 30 minute wait I'd guess with only two TSA agents..and the limited number of screening points behind them.

Again let's remember this is a tiny part of the kci problem...this line is one thing kci lovers thinks works well! They even concede the rest of the experience is trash.

A) The choice isn't a billion or zero.
B) read above where I said this is a small part of kci problem and the part that supposedly works well
C) TSA wants less than 10 minute lines

The only times I've waited for more than 15 minutes in the last 3+ years are all MCI. Came close at DIA in May. One anecdote and TSA precheck, but still.

Oh, 15-30 minute TSA wait is the worst case scenario? That's pretty pud.

Also, there are so many waits at an airport other than TSA wait, why worry so much about that one?

because it's the easiest way to fear monger the public since it's an issue that effects us most (except me because i've never stood in line for > 10 minutes at kci

I surmise most people who don't want a new airport never fly.  If you've been to other modern airports in US and abroad, you understand there's not much to debate here.  MCI is an embarrassing crap hole.

And many live in kcmo and have a vote. That's why the message being amplified is you don't fly you don't pay.

with an airport being such an important keystone to a city for some of you, it's hard to imagine why you'd continue to live in kc considering your thoughts on ours

I think that is the common scenario.  I think I posted about my 75 minute wait from January ITT.

What other waits are there in an airport?  Waiting for the bartender at the lounge?

It's precisely because I love KC that I want our facilities (stadiums, airports, museums, etc.) to reflect my vision of KC.  Kind of like athletic facilities at KSU - I continued supporting out Cats even during pre-reno BSFS days.  But we can all agree a major overhaul to BSFS/OOD was and is needed.

It's kind of crazy that the proponents have allowed the debate to be about local flyer conveniences.  Locals are aware of what the airport is and can plan to show up at the optimal time where they won't have to be stuck in the shithole.  The need for a better terminal is to try to prove to visitors - leisure, but more importantly, business - that they haven't time-traveled back like 15 years or landed in a third-world country.

Was there a plan for how to get an amazon rep to visit KC without having to go through the airport?  Drones?

you've got to address all arguments - but what I hear most often from Sly and most proponents is simply that MCI is a complete shithole and we don't want MCI to be the first and last impression of visitors/business travelers.  This - and power outages and sewage/plumbing interruption are pretty inconvenient for most flyers.
