Termy = security and baggage claim and gates. Gates separated by a hallway != Termy

(But I see what you are saying )

how many terminals is this?

Let's not even start confusing people with comparisons to ATL.

How many is this?

why not? it looks like 3 H's connected by "hallways"

your pic looks like 5 terminals.

i just think we should define terms.

When ATL says terminal they mean gates. Their terminology is dumb.

IMO, a terminal has it's own security checkpoint. so if there's 1 security point, there's one termy. 2 checkpoints, 2 termy's etc etc.

I did. Terminal is the whole airport experience. Pre security, security, gates, immigration, baggage delivery. Some gates down a hallway does not a terminal make.

I just think it's best to avoid ATL in this discussion as it makes the townies freak out.

so currently KCI has like 12 terminals?

according to my definition, yep. hence why it's so insanely inefficient.

I also realize this theory is not held up by pretty much any evidence at other airports.

i agree that the terms are a little fluid/unclear.

let me just say when i hear "single terminal" i think of DAL

I'm somewhat amending my definition:

A terminal must have dedicated:
ticketing
security
baggage claim
pickup/dropoff area

a concourse:
be a part of the larger "terminal"
dedicated food
share the same letter designation for gates

in these proposals it appears to be 1 terminal with 2 concourses.

there's nothing inefficient about kc's airport unless you're talking about opposite day
i thought the pro-let's spend a billion dollar folks argument is we're doing too much with too little?

Except the fact that they have probably 2-3 times the amount of tsa staff that an airport of that size would normally use

A proposal to privatize part of the Westport entertainment district’s streets has been indefinitely postponed, prompting outrage from some business owners who warn that public safety is at risk.

The Kansas City Plan Commission was scheduled Tuesday to debate the proposal, but at the last minute the group agreed to hold the measure “off the docket,” meaning postpone it indefinitely, at the request of an attorney for the Westport Business League.

as a customer of the airport i am dubious that you mean everything when you say everything.
as a grammar connoisseur i am appalled at your sentence structure.

i go to the airport to do two things- to get on an airplane, and to get off of an airplane.  it's pretty incredible how efficient mci is at performing its most basic function.

and sadly for those few here that don't agree with me, the majority of kansas city does.

maybe someday when i decide that i need to hit up mci for a new pair of beats headphones, or some swarovski crystal, or some pga shop merchandise, i'll reach out to you guys and we can throw together some designs.

until then, sorry for your hatred of kansas city's crown jewel.  perhaps move somewhere that has an airport that meets your shopping needs and your life may be a bit happier :dunno:
