I think we check all the boxes but some could be improved.  Our biggest missing piece IMO is a nice comprehensive recreational greenway in the urban core.

87 unknown predominate contributing factors? That seems like the most basic thing to understand if you're investigating, wow.

it definitely could be part of what I'm thinking of but it's not programmed at all to be a urban recreational bike/walk greenway/trail.  I'm thinking of at least 10 miles worth of car free interactions.

Using the riverfront levee system as well as frontage to RR tracks in the crossroads.   I've seen a plan for it but can't locate it now.

yes but what's an example of this in a "big boy city"?

Highline but that's less of a recreation trail so maybe the west side highway bike trail?  Minneapolis greenway but just looked it up it's only 5 miles so maybe my 10 miles was too optomlist. Charlotte had one going SW out of downtown I seem to remember

Central Park seems like the only example of this, except it’s only about 3 miles.

Chicago Lakefront Trail is close, but there are a handful of locations where cars cross to access parking lots.

What is Penn Valley Park then?

there is a 45mph road directly through the middle of it, a 60mph road on one side of it, and an actual highway exit on the north side of it.

i'm just frustrated at the moment. some new protected bike lanes have been installed on Gillham, from the plaza all the way to 19th st in the crossroads. there are 30 miles of bike lanes on the schedule for 2022. apparently enough people complained about the new ones that the city council is having to vote whether to keep them or have them removed.
it's just one example but it seems like there is so much opposition to any new improvements to the city. unless it is tearing down a building to build a parking lot. kcmo is bitb at that.

no doubt other cities have similar problems with their school district (not sure any city has it worse though), but the public transportation in kcmo is just laughable. no way to fix it either because of all the annexing in the 1950's-70s. i mean Omaha, NE has almost the same population as KCMO (486k vs 508k), yet less than half of the land area (141 sq mi vs 315 sq mi). such a dumb way to make sure you're always stretched too thin, and having to spend more money on infrastructure/police, etc per resident than almost any other city.

Black men, taking out our own, sucks. Not that we already didn't know this but white people are a billion more times likely to be taken out by a white person they know, but are still very afraid of the black bogeyman.

I don’t think that chart indicates anything about what race is the suspect in crimes against a specific race. It’s just a total number of victims by race and suspects by race.

Nationwide 80-85% of people murdered are murdered by someone of their own race and that's reflected in the number victims and suspects on that chart.

The nationwide statistic is no doubt true, and it likely holds true here, however this chart doesn’t show that. There is nothing in this chart that would preclude 14 of the black female victims from being killed by the 14 white male suspects

Dallas also has the Katy Trail. Rusty, I think you'd be blown away by the Greenbelt in Austin. I know I was and still am. Hiking, rock climbing, swimming, biking, walking. It's got it all, folks.

Katy is very nice, but only 3.5 miles and has a couple road crossings.  Icehouse is great tho.
