holy crap. if I had this toy today it would be displayed on my coffee table.

It is still remembered as one of the best gifts I've ever gotten.

Did you guys ever do these White Wings kits?

You cut out pieces of paper and glue them together to make these super awesome planes?  I think the last time I ever cried at school was when I got one stuck on the school roof on its first flight.

I definitely did a few of those. They were great.

I had one of these when I was 5 years old. I didn't do anything cool on it though. I did lose the gas cap in a field and then we had to use a bathtub stopper as the gas cap from then on.

My favorite toys were always John Deere tractors. Did anyone else "farm" the carpet? I would disc, and plow, and cultivate, and plant, and harvest. So much fun! :excited:

My father in law's attic is completely stuffed with John Deere tractors he's been buying over the years in preparation for grandchildren.

Seriously, those are the toys I played with the most. I was pretty pumped when I got an 8650 (you could tell because the exhaust was on the side instead of the front like the 8640) to replace my pud 2WD 4840. I think I had a 4440 loader. Also had a small square baler with the little bales that got pushed out and it was balLer. Ha!

I was so lucky to be raised amongst catalogs.

they're functional! Like on the combine the header would turn and the auger could go out. The baler had a little crank to kick out bales. Cultivators and discs would fold up so you could take them down the road.

Another good things about the tractors is you never saw commercials for them jumping off ramps or doing loop-the-loops that led to an inevitable letdown when you actually got them in real life.
