Ohio State's President already told everyone that the Big 10 wants to add KU and Mizzou in the next round of realignment.  Sorry, boys.  K-State is too pud.

Was then retired for being a dumbass.

That guy is older and more senile than Lou Holtz. 'grats, though.

In all honesty, he was saying what he wanted the Big Ten to do.  Not what the Big Ten wanted to do.

And, as mentioned, he was quickly fired after making other stupid comments.

Let's think about this for a minute.  Gordon Gee said it was a mistake for the Big Ten to not go after Mizzou.  Mizzou put a neon vacancy sign over their head for the Big Ten for the better part of 30 years.  If the Big Ten ever had any interest in Mizzou, or KU for that matter, they've had decades to make that play, and they didn't.

This was nothing more than the ramblings of a crazy old man who got fired because he rambled too much.  He was like a Jon Wefald that people actually paid attention to.  And no one ever took anything Wefald said seriously.

How do you feel about his comments vis-à-vis the SEC?

Gee isn't the only one who has mentioned KU and the Big 10.  The Omaha-Herald had an article about conference realignment not too long ago, and KU to the Big 10 was mentioned.

Yep, no sooner had that speech hit the public and that guy was announcing his forced retirement.

I wonder who their source information was from?

Would guess it was some senile old dumbass that is currently struggling with the transition into retirement.

it's going to be hard for KU to move to another conference because the state is basically saying we have to take Kstate with us.

Is the new Big 12 TV network going to be as crappy as it was last year, or are they going to provide a national channel like the Big 10 and SEC networks?

Anyways, remember when John Currie already turned down the Clemson job and probably several others? We're fine. Destination job.

How does Gee saying he wanted the Big 10 to add KU and MU mean that the Big 10 wants KU and MU in the next round of realignment?

It doesn't.  I mean, he isn't even affiliated with a school or conf anymore.  Just some raving old man with nothing to do during his days now.  Kinda like Mike DeArmond(SP).  I mean, I am sure Mike has a bunch of wishes regarding what MU should do, but has absolutely zero effect over any of it.

And was shortly after forced to retire.  KU will be in the Pac4000 before ever getting a whiff of the BIG 10.

I like how when Gee says "I wanted KU and nobody else did" that BMW translates it as "Invite must've been lost in the mail"

It means that smart people sometimes get fired for saying very stupid things when their brains stop functioning properly.  This was simply a way for the Big10 to make an example out of an old man and teach everyone a lesson about making embarrassing statements publicly.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Oh, I don't doubt that KU is a candidate.  AAU school, good basketball, decent sized fan base, etc.

It's just that comments Delany has made point to the Big Ten moving to rapidly growing population centers on the eastern seaboard and not a flyover state.

I'm sure there is a contingent inside of the Big Ten that would love to invite KU.  I just don't think the aggregate will because KU just doesn't fit the TV profile they're looking for in a subscriber based cable network model.  Just because KU may get good ratings in large metro areas of the Midwest, it doesn't mean that they will be able to charge people an extra buck or two in Colorado so they can watch KU on the Big Ten Network in Denver, you know what I mean?

We're going to see more games on FS1, I'm sure.  For games that aren't held back for your T3 deal, I'm sure KU will be on ESPN, ESPN 2, and FS1 more often than not.  You guys are going to have better national exposure than Kentucky, OSU, etc. because KU will be nationally televised on basic cable as opposed to niche, sports tiers.

Why would any ku fan want to leave the Big 12?   Once they new TV contract kicks in, they'll be bringing home $26-$27 million year just off of media and before any other conference distribution money.    Hell, as it stands now, they'll bring home $29 million this year off total conference distribution and Tier III.
