Bass Fishing > Ladies Track.  And it's not even really debatable.

And even if it was a debate, we'd beat everyone in the nation at that, too.

Here's how I explain it to people when they ask.

Cheyenne Zulu:  Good at the sports people don't care about.

AD John Currie:  Good at the sports people care about and the sports people don't care about.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Is Currie putting himself in position to take over for another athletic department, or is he totally EMAW for life?

we would never be so lucky

As long as K-State has LHC LHC LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder, Brad Hill, and to a lesser extent, oscar Weber, you guys will be just fine.  Currie is a stud, but I'm sure there are other studs out there who would love to be an athletic director at a program like K-State, especially with all of the facilities upgrades and on-the-field success going on right now.  I've heard that Manhattan is really improving its quality of life as well.

we aren't going to take that loser zenger off your hands just because he's emaw and wants to come back to mhk if that's what you are angling. you guys are stuck with him. sorry.

Zenger is great.  He has more national titles in his short time at KU than K-State has in the entire history of its athletic department.

like i said, we aren't taking him off your hands so you're stuck with him. maybe you'll get lucky and he can turn ku into the the connecticut woman's basketball of womans college outdoor track and field.

Will Currie hire Krause to renegotiate his contract in light of all of ADJC's accolades?

How many has Zenger won? Currie has won 2 national championships in the men's outdoor high jump. He might even have some others that I'm not aware of.

Remember the last AD that "won" a National Championship at ku?

He left behind a shambles of cancelled facilities projects, a football program that's in the midst of a 20 game conference losing streak and 4 consecutive last place finishes, and an athletic program that finished nearly $9 million dollars in the red in FY 2012 and needed every dime of institutional support and compulsory student fees in order to avoid finishing millions more in the red.   Without direct institutional support and compulsory student fees, ku athletics finishes FY 2012 with an operational deficit of nearly $12 million dollars.

In looking at the Academic Year 2012 NCAA report I came across an interesting little item, not exactly sure what the implications are, but ku athletic shows an unrestricted funds balance of -$4,839,298 on line 11.3.2.4.16, on the same line item on K-State's report, K-State's unrestricted funds balance was: $30,430,280

Folks Big 12 Men's Sports Season and K-State's relative success during the Big 12 men's sports must come with an *

*2012-2013 Big 12 Men's Sports Season declared to be a "down conference" by phog.net

This is usually the case when you only have 1 men's athletic team make the postseason and the most important team has lost 20 consecutive conference games.

I stopped going over there 'Dax, but I stopped by to see what you were talking about, and holy crap! It's bad over there. They're really trying to devalue what we've done. Good grief, they don't get it how they're perceived to the rest of the conference. #ButthurtUSA

I hearby declare that the 2012-2013 Big 12 Women's Athletic season was conducted in a "down conference" and that Women's Track and Field is most assuredly watered down.

Lady track nationally was WAY, WAY down as a whole.  Even the most novice in the lady track game knows that.

I'm not the biggest lady track fan, but I know several people who are, and to a person they say they've never seen it this bad with LSU and A&M particulary being very weak relative to their overall historical success.

Big props to the ku women for taking advantage of this very down situation in women's track.

Big 12 football:  top 2 teams finished the season ranked #12 and #15, with K-State getting drubbed by Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl, and Oklahoma getting stomped by Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.

Consensus:  The Big 12 was solid from top to bottom last year, but there weren't any great teams.  Down year.

Big 12 basketball:  top 2 teams finished the season ranked #8 and #20, with KU losing to Michigan in the S16, and K-State losing in the 1st round to LaSalle.

Consensus:  The Big 12 pretty much sucked in hoops last year, with KU being the only legit title contender.  Down year.

Big 12 baseball:  top 2 teams finished the season ranked #17 and #35, with two teams losing in the super regionals.

Consensus:  The Big 12 is pretty pud in baseball.  Down year.

Yep.  It's pretty obvs.  I mean, the conf champ lost an early round game it wasn't supposed to in the NCAA's.  = Down conference.

The Big 12 was definitely down in basketball last year.  Texas sucking huge taint is a big reason why.
