sister in law's place is redic.  The boss bought a Shot put and put it on a dude's desk as if to say.  "you are doing shot in corporate challenge, now go practice your face off."

I'll be honest, I was "that guy" during this years dodgeball tournament. I also carried us to an elite 8 finish, so I'm not ashamed at all for my actions.

I had to let this one too-serious person know it wasn't that big of a deal to me when I skipped tug-of-war practice.  She came by after and was all where were you!  :shakesfist:  And I was like I did chest and back yesterday, and I didn't have time.
I picture her saying something like "Somebody's got a case of the Mondays". :(

so the sister in law's boss made a contraption that tests your pulling strength for tug of war.  Then he has a spreadsheet with everybody's strength to weight ratio to choose the team

Better get your ass to practice!

She tried to get me to hard-commit and I told her I might have to help cut wheat (depends on the weather) and she was all like "you can just cut it after the tug-of-war."  IT'S LIKE SHE DOESN'T KNOW IT'S A HUGE rough ridin' FARM WITH LOTS OF MOVING PIECES AND ONE MAN OUT OF PLACE CAN eff IT ALL UP!  :curse:

O man, who is ready for a ben ji FISHING TOURNAMENT related Corporate Challenge Rant?!?!?!?

There is a manager here who has been the representative the last couple years and is absolutely horrible. He conducts the "Try out" which is rigged so that no one else can/will want to go out.

How is it rigged you may ask? Well let me Tell you! You can only try out if you have a boat, kinda makes sense because you will need a boat for the fishing tournament. I dont have a boat but I've got a buddy who works here that I've been fishing with since we were kids, he also happens to have a lil john boat. Things are looking good, we will go out, dominate some fish and bring great glory upon our company.

BUT NOPE, guy running tryout says that each person trying out has to fish by themselves on their OWN BOAT. The two that do the best will be the representative's and fish together. His reasoning? In case one person's boat doesnt work that day.  :blank:

Well last year of course said manager and the only other guy to show up with a boat are the representatives. They spend 6 hrs on the water trying to land the highest combined weight of Crappie/bass. They catch a grand total of ZERO FISH in this 6 hrs....DID I MENTION THEY COULD USE LIVE BAIT BUT ALL THEIR MINNOWS DIED IN THE LIVE WELL 1 HR IN?!?!? HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN.

Maybe 2012 was just a bad year you say? NOPE, in 2011 same guy took last place with 4 Crappie AND 0 bass.

Well he must of had a killer 2010 tournament then right? NOPE, 1 bass 0 crappie. LAST PLACE.

But heaven forbid the dream team of ben ji and his fishing bud from the past 15 years fish the tryout together BECAUSE WHAT IF YOUR BOAT BREAKS THAT DAY? Hell, even if the boat did break I GUARANTEE I COULD CATCH MORE FISH FROM THE SHORE THAN THE ZERO FISH YOU CAUGHT IN 2012!!!!

:bang: :curse: :chainsaw:

You should just find out where the event is going to be held, fish with your buddy that day (either from shore on on the john boat), then bring your haul in to where your jerk boss is going to be checking in at the end of the day and mush his face off with your fishing prowess.  Afterward get a WWF/ Boxing style championship belt and wear it around the office for weeks afterward/ always making sure that that jerk knows who the real champ/ stud fisherman is.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I hope that calc takes heart, coachability, and doing things the right way into account.  You can't just throw out a bunch of 5* tuggers or war'ers and expect to win.  Just doesn't work that way.  Also, you work for _______, you guys can't expect for all the high talented T&W'ers to just sign up.   Not with Sprint, Cerner, and H&R Block out there.

Corporate challenge is lame.  It's purpose is to give lame people something to do outside of work.

I think the purpose is networking.  I think result is 1) super competitive people taking it too seriously, and 2) the others that get roped into competing getting hurt and resenting their super competitive colleagues.
