as a proud k-state alum, i demand excellence of our sports teams. excellence is defined by titles. LHC Bill Snyder, oscar weber, deb patterson, suzie fritz and now brad hill are all champions. but many of our school's coaches are not.

if i had my way, i'd run all the non-champion coaches out of town immediately.

but who should be first to go?

my vote is for steve bietau, the women's tennis coach. this guy totally sucks and is an embarrassment to our athletic program. since k-state joined the big 12, the women's tennis team has finished no better than 5th. that was back in 2000. the last five years: 12th, 8th, 7th, 6th and 7th.

the women's tennis team has finished above .500 in league play only twice in the last 10 years. that's horrible!

sincere apologies to mr. rovelto for grouping him in with all these other loser coaches. checked his bio and, unlike the others, it seems he has actually accomplished SOMETHING during his tenure.

still, it would be nice if he were more visible in the community. in all the years i lived in manhattan, i don't think i've ever ran into him at the supermarket, at the park, or around campus.

jim colbert should replace coach morris. i think that would surely re energize the golf fan base.

it's been years since i've worn my k-state golf shirt. embarrassed to be seen in public with it.

This is a dangerous approach for the way things are headed. We'd be firing a conf. champ coach every year pretty soon.

Both golf programs have pretty much non-achieved for years. Both have had some good golfers here and there...but team accomplishments have been few and far between. Currie should strongly consider changes.

Jim is as loyal a K-Stater as you'll find and has extremely close ties to Coach Snyder. He also spends a great deal of time in MHK...and the course KSU plays on bears his name and he has much say in its operations, etc. Assuming Jim can coach, Currie should take a really close look at hiring him.

BOTH golf coaches should be gone...look at our facilities and look at our crappy results!!!
All I remember about the tennis coach is him yelling at my buddy for wearing the wrong kind of shoes on the tennis courts at the rec. LOL.
