:excited:  If you see a kickass girl in an Amelia Earhart shirt, get a picture with her.

Oh btw, you also owe us craptons of pictures.

Need updates. :don'tcare:
Ran a pretty tight schedule, waking up at 6 sightseeing all morning driving all afternoon making camp at sundown so didn't really have time for updates.  Just got back to Wichita half an hour ago, let me sort through the pics and post them tomorrow

So we started out in Portland Oregon with our sights set on Kansas, this was our story.

Multnomah Falls

Herman the 400lbs Sturgeon in the Bonneville fish hatchery!

The Columbia River gorge

Stopped for a beer at Fullsail Brewery, heres the rig we were working with (taking up 4 parking meters with zero quarters in them  :gocho: )

Some pictures of the Palouse

Ended up not being able to make it to Glacier on night one, it was probably a little too ambitious a drive anyway, so we stayed at Lake Coeur d'Alene

More Coeur d'Alene (town and lake)

Drove by 2 different forest fires on the way out there, one outside of Missoula, one outside of Yellowstone (made the whole park all smokey and misty lookin)

Couple shots of yellowstone

How am I only now discovering the last 6 page of this thread? Anyway Skinny great recap and pics. And like I suggested your timing was perfect as the lush green stuff you saw is now brown or engulfed in flames. The highway from Lolo to the pass is closed now and looks like a scene from The Road. SMH.

That's a good route.  Any stories from the res in SD?

It was kind of unnerving when i first got on the res and you'd see people walking along side the highway, miles from any kind of homoes or town... and they all waved at you as you passed by... a friendly pedestrian people.

Great pics from HerrSontag.   Multnomah Falls looks super awesome. Never been there, even though I've been to Portland so I probably should've gone. Did you listen to a bunch of The Decemberists while there? They have the very un-rock and roll lyric "I figured I had paid my debt to society by paying my overdue fines at the Multnomah County Library." Weird. But good.

Your pictures are very much making me wish I had spent more time in Yellowstone. :frown:

So what was your favorite part of the whole thing? How was the camping? Encounter any wildlife besides all the NDSU fans grazing?

Huh, good reference, we probably should have been listening to that song... i actually should have put together more of a playlist, had Pandora about 60% of the time but during the blackouts we had to listen to the colorful airways of rural Montana.

I had alot of favorite parts, i suppose.  Driving the Columbia from Portland to Kennewick was cool, just seeing the country seeing the country change so fast (relatively).  Northern Idaho was really cool, but it was also the first wooded area I'd seen since i got out there.   Montana and Wyoming were amazing to see out the window, just so immense.  Yellowstone was cool, if i had to do it again i'd plan on doing a couple days of backwoods camping, the main parts were too touristy, there was always people everywhere.  The drive through Bighorn Nat. Forest was surprisingly scenic, and it looked like it had some badass backwoods Jeep trails that made it on my bucketlist.  And the drive itself, pretty much had good scenery too look at the whole route.  Camping was good, we were able to get in and setup quick every evening, which was good because we never showed up earlier than 8 to 10pm, even $5 firewood bundles. It was an effort to get a rig that size parked in a stall but we made it 3 nights in a row (i really should have gotten a pick of the sardine can we parked in at lake coeur d'alene)  Didn't see a whole lot of wildlife in YS, saw a bear, saw alot of ND St. fans, saw some pronghorns... on Chief Joe Highway we went through an area of open range pasture and got to see cows hitchhiking down the highway... now SD was infested with pronghorns, i literally saw a group of 2-4 of them over every hill, like 30 in an hour period, i need to drive up there with a fridge truck, harvest a couple dozen, and make a mint off of turning them into a commercial scale amount of antelope jerky)

What classic? Also what part of MT? If I recall, you're an Eastern Montana Big Sky Country type of d00d.

A few buddies and I go central MT every year to let dogs chase the horizon in search of cagey galliformes.  We might also wet a line or try our hand at varmint control, weather dependent.

Huns mostly but we'll kill some sharpies and maybe sage grouse and mountain grouse.  Pheasants won't open until the weekend we're leaving.
