I really want to but don't want them wandering off while I'm standing in the middle of a river. I'll probably have to tie both of them up to a tree or something.

I'll take them both fishing at some places around KC and see how it goes.

15 year old weenie. He likes to go outside to crap and pee and then right back in.

Tried to take him on a walk about 2 months ago. He stopped after about 2 blocks and refused to go any further. Had to carry him home.

He’s snoring so loud at this very moment that I had to turn up the TV.

Hiked around 9 miles yesterday. Was really smokey because of the fires in Colorado but a lot of fun. Then stayed at the cabin and grilled steaks on the campfire.

TBT, where are you hanging out at?  It looks like the Colorado Rockies around Estates Park.

 :surprised:

I'm heading back to Wyoming (N Platte River Valley(Encampment)) this week for another vision quest. How long are you going to be out there?

Also tell me about Laramie Peak. I just assumed it was near the town of Laramie but it looks like its actually 2 hours away. Any good fishing up that way?

I've been in Wyoming for over a week now.  Staying with some family and working from here.  Don't know yet when I'll go back to KC.

Laramie Peak is one of the taller mountains in this part of Wyoming and you can see it from a long ways away.  I lived in Wyoming(and in view of Laramie Peak) for a long time but had never hiked it.  I have deer/antelope/elk hunted in Medicine Bow National Forest a ton of times.  Hiked the trail with some family and it is definitely not a beginner trail but the views were really cool.  It was so smokey so we couldn't quite see as far but it was fun.

As far as fishing I'm sure there are some places but I haven't fished in that area.  I have fished at Glendo a ton of times and rented a pontoon boat and was out on the lake all day when I was here in June.  I posted a picture from the boat looking at Laramie Peak earlier ITT.

i spent two weeks in CO / moab this summer but i haven't posted anything itt yet! tent camped for 12 consecutive nights. took the 4runner (xpost w/ cars thread) on 5 different off road mountain passes of varying difficulty (for those interested: mosquito, engineer, cinnamon, ophir, la sal), and two trails in moab (dome plateau and fins n things!), did an extreme VQ 9 mile hike in canyonlands, rappelled morning glory arch (again), rented a santa cruz bronson and biked navajo rocks in like 105 degree heat (do not recommend), cooled off in a waterfall every evening while we were in moab. and still cannot compete with ben ji's nsfw fishing photos!

south of leadville near clear creek reservoir

mosquito pass

i eventually had to turn around here bc of the snow, but there was a pretty lol moment with all these hardcore 4x4 bros attaching a winch to a vehicle with a winch attached to another vehicle

on a hike near south fork clear creek

look at the size of this dang pine tree

newly paved cottonwood pass

engineer pass

i think this was somewhere along cinnamon pass

i had never seen this before but apparently it is pretty common. that is a F ton of snow from an avalanche, covered in dirt/debris. irl snow tunnel

That's great mocat. Did the hardcore bros look down on your 4runner or is it more customized than it looks from the photo?

hike near Needles in canyonlands

look at those tiny people

capo (xpost w/ dogs thread) contemplating her existence

the aforementioned Bronson at navajo rocks. so fing hot.

i could not believe how green the view was from La Sal pass. like this is in the desert where there is no shade but then you climb a couple miles up a mountain and boom complete forest ? wtf

so i have rappelled morning glory arch once before on like an unofficially guided tour, and we got to actually rappel off the arch itself. this time we had to rappel next to the arch (lame) bc it was an official guided tour and they are not allowed to do that anymore.

if you get a chance to do fins n things you should do it. complete lol playground

oh for sure, mine is pretty much stock. there was also a pretty hilarious toyota / jeep dynamic going on where the toyota bros were clearly proud that they were winching out a stuck jeep.

to expand on the situation for those interested (this is the VQ thread after all!): irl i am lucky those guys showed up. i got there first and nobody else was around, and i was mulling over whether or not to attempt driving through the snow, bc it really didn't look that bad. then 3 monster toyota trucks showed up behind me, and the jeep from the other side. the toyota bros convinced the jeep bro to attempt the crossing, with the understanding that they would winch him if he got stuck. well he got stuck immediately and it was difficult to get him across. then 2 of the 3 toyota monster trucks made it (barely, like on the absolute verge of tipping over), and one of them had to bail and just go straight down the mountain through like 4 foot deep snow. it was pretty nuts. so i obviously just turned around.

that looks like the same hike! was it the big spring / squaw canyon loop? and yeah, the scale is impossible to convey.

some other stuff:

- the whole time in co we just did dispersed camping in the natl forests (gunnison and san juan) which is really great BUT
- i know colorado is like buried in a cloud of smoke right now so i can't really complain that much, but it totally blows camping without being able to have a campfire.
- i want to spend more time in the san juans. ouray / lake city / silverton are absolute ditr gem towns. and next time maybe i will have the confidence to try black bear pass (!)
- we stopped and had lunch in aspen on the way back home from moab. the absolute worst humans on the planet are in aspen. amaze.
