I grew up in Lawrence and I can say, It was really hard for me not being a poor.  I didn't have anyone else to relate to.  I tried wearing starter clothes in HS like everyone else but that just made me have more money when I stopped buying armani and everyone knew I was still like, WAY richer than them, probably because of the KSU stuff I'd wear.

That sounds like a tough way to come up, Doom.  Sorry you had it so rough.  I guess, it probs gives you perspective having lived on that side of the tracks.  Immersion is the best way to truly understand something.

They love that SockHands guy and a few other select.  They treat the mentally ill and homeless like entertainment if they are truly weird.  Then they treat them like some beloved crazy relative and support the poor soul with hand outs that sustain them but aren't enough for the abused to actually get any help.  Keep them on that corner.  They want them on that corner.  They need them on that corner.   Cruel entertainment.

I thought there were a relatively high number of homicides against homeless persons in Lawrence, including a fairly grisly burning of one.
