The Simple Things...
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:46:07 AM »
This thread is for the simple things that just make you happy.

For me, I LOVE strolling through campus in the middle of the night.  I enjoy it more than almost anything on earth.  If you ever have never walked around campus aimlessly at all hours of the night, just do it. It's beautiful. The buildings. The memorials. Just everything.

What are the simple things you love?

Funny you say that because I always thought our campus looked better at night than during the day.

Driving a decent distance with light traffic, windows down, blaring some great tunes to sing along to.

Cruising home from the farm with the windows down at twilight in early spring.  The fields are all green and the air has that scent of moist earth mixed with fresh plant growth.  It makes me happy.

Friday afternoon on campus, it's pretty much deserted and you get that excited feeling in your stomach on your walk home cause you know you're gonna binge that night :excited:

an ice cold pop

hearing the cicadas in the middle of summer

I could list a lot of stuff when you have kids, but I don't wanna get all :cyclist: on you guys

the smell of fresh cut grass

the sound of boots crunching in fresh snow

the city park tennis courts on a spring day
I'm purple down

Nailed it 'meister. A few times I've had to be on campus very late and then leave around 5am or so and I was not very happy about it. But while walking to my car one of those brisk mornings it started to snow and it was so serene.

Yes. Walking through campus in the middle of the night, you just feel like you own the place. And whatever issues you're working through, while they might not be solved, at least seem a lot less urgent.
