I look at modding much like digging ditches or picking up trash. Useful yes, but a job best suited for a simple person. Basically, I assume the mods are quite similar to the dude in Sling Blade and his lawn mower engines.
I wish someone would teach them to go in the administration console and tick the checkbox that says "remove nested quotes". i guess they really enjoy posts with quotes from 10 people. and honestly jt, it's a lot more work to run a smf forum than you think. you have to constantly monitor the load balance, perform forum tasks like clearing the file cache, pruning posts, check the error log, check the moderation log, etc. its not as easy as it seems. plus there is the constant threat of being hacked. then last you have the need to moderate. it can be a headache for an unexperienced server technician, or a hobbyist.
