I think it means that only the most elite pilots fly into MHK. No control tower necessary for them.

Will make sitting 1,000 yards from restricted airspace interesting though.  :dance:

But most approaches tune to marshall to get vectored around it so I doubt it will even matter, mhk gets less traffic than salina.

thought salina was supposed to be one of the few keeping theirs?  airport authority dude guy here has been in the paper as recently as a couple of days ago saying "glad we get to keep ours, but it's bullshit they're closing all these others"

Nobody in the aviation community in concerned outside of the FAA (dramatic bitches), some find it to be a relief.


In fact, if the Essential air service bill ever gets yanked you might even see AE beef up operations in MHK.  :thumbs:
