FGCU
« on: March 22, 2013, 08:27:49 PM »
So if you haven't been to scenic Ft Myers, FL home of the fightin' Eagles, you should see their campus.

Nestled in between the Airport and an shopping outlet, FGCU brings their students amenities like this for dormitories:

Not pictured are the ramps in the lakes for skiing/wake boarding.

FGCU is a small but growing school.  People there range from smelling lovely to oddly. They've even tried to recruit professors from K-State to their campus.

Another excellent point HELLHAMMER, there are many local attractions.

Another local attraction is Estero Bay.  This collection of water ways, canals, and tidal areas is believed to have been shaped in part by Native American tribes to form fishing estuaries, I believe the Calusa tribe, which is now extinct.

Why do they use wine in every cocktail at the beach bars?   Worst crap ever.

Another great attraction to the Ft Myers area are the winter homes of MLB's best teams.  The Boston Redsox play right down the road.  Be careful though, I-75 can be a pretty crazy roadway.

I don't know what you mean. When I frequent bars I usually get beer products or captain and coke.  The service is excellent.

If you are in south Florida over the winter you can visit Manatee Park in Ft Myers, a mere 25 minutes from FGCU.  Due to the local power plant's discharge of warm water into the canal, it becomes a prime spot for watching Manatees, or "sea cows" as they winter in the warm waters.  The staff there is excellent.  I'm sure all the local opportunities for environmental education is a strong "pull" factor influencing students to come to FGCU.

I ordered a Margarita for my wife at a bar on the beachfront and they made it with wine instead of tequila.  Told me that's all they could serve besides beer.  She wouldn't drink it so I gunned it down, tasted like ass.

HELLHAMMER,

I've enjoyed fine alcoholic beverages on the beach in Collier County.  Maybe it is something in Lee County, home of FGCU where there is a local ordinance with that prohibition.  I hope not, because that seems like a "push" factor when people decided on attending a fine school like Florida Golf Coast.

If anyone else likes firetrucks, I know I do, right down the road from FGCU is a new-ish fire station

It had fantastic fire trucks which looked VERY well equipped to put out the most dangerous of fires, to even something as simple as a dumpster fire. Maybe the can give our boys at the Manhattan fire department some tips, if you know what I mean.  ;)

Really glad we didn't lose to these guys.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Don't post this on an Arkansas web site, would be basis for a "dynamite fishing vacation".
