The way it happened though it makes me wonder if there's something else going on, like that baseball pitcher whose upper arm kept snapping, and then they found out he had bone cancer.

Probably doesn't drink milk.  This is what you get, you lactose intolerance weenies.   :shakesfist:

I'm wondering how the stage setup of the court affected how he tried to control his landing.

interesting question imo

Studies should definitely be done on the elevated courts. NCAA is probably all  :ohno:

Make the court big enough so that the players can sit on it just like a normal game. How terrifying would it be to be chasing a loose ball near the sidelines knowing you have 3 steps to change your momentum before you go diving off a rough ridin' stage? eff that. That isn't right. Either make it completely normal for the players or move these games back to arenas. The empty seats in the crowd suggest that you wouldn't lose out on ticket sales anyway.

My goodness he landed a foot behind the 3 point line, he was 10-12 feet away from the dropoff. The court had absolutely nothing to do with that.

Watch it again. He came running from the top of the key to contest the shot and landed on the line. It's not hard to believe that he altered his landing based on concerns of going off. He probably landed 6 feet from the drop. That's two steps.

The point about Ware having a previous condition seems like a legitimate possibility. Generally in that situation something in your knee is going to give and your bones aren't going to snap like that. It takes a lot of force to break a bone, let along snap it like that.

It's certainly possible, but that injury, while uncommon, isn't unheard of in a basketball game. It just happened to be one of the worst we've ever seen.

I'm generally in support of doing SOMETHING to pay these players. But LOL at people using this as a rallying cry to pay players. He broke his leg in a basketball game. It happens. He won't pay a dime of his medical expenses.

Good points. I brought up Donnie Boyce from CU in the Big 8 tournament in the mid 90s, that was a really bad one as well.

Boyce went to the same high school as Pullen and is now the head coach there.

Interesting Boyce is now at Proviso East, I remember being slightly horrified by the sound of him screaming as he lay on the floor after he broke it.

He had a good chance to be a 1st round pick if he didn't get hurt like that IMO.

I have found that verts under 20" don't generate enough force to do much damage.

That was a great interview, I teared up a bit when I watched it on Sportscenter. Interesting that this interview and his comments about Coach P are being ran with the Mike Rice story.
